Gigi's Diary - Aiding Naweeha The rain poured as we left hope. But no rain can ruin this parade. Everyone on this trip is a new face that I can't wait to be friends with. There's Arnulf - the leader of this adventure. There is also Byron, Tordak, Elphim and Reza Early on in the journey we were ‘ambushed’ by some cheeky Kobolds. They thought they could catch us so easily. I’m glad that we could talk them out of their little trap. For some reason Kobolds always remind of my dog back at home. Oh poor Digby, I miss you, be a good boy. That evening I got to get to know Byron a little better. Aside from his very sickly appearance he was quite..err, energic? He was a man of good spirits, but he took pleasure in hunting helpless animals. I tried to make small talk, but he was such an odd fellow. He kept making strange faces at me too, I wonder what that was all about? Later that night a Hill Giant came wandering into our camp! It gave poor Tordak and Arnulf a good thumping. I tried to subdue the creature but to no avail! This was truly a wise giant to be sure. But he was no match for Reza’s and Arnulf’s mighty blows for which they turned the tides of the fight and we were victorious! I came across Nefril again, or should I say Nefril came across me again. The man is so delightfully eccentric with his giant crocodiles. He told us who to get to his tower (again) and he also was kind enough to tell us how to get to Naweeha’s house. Heading further into the swamp we were greeted by the sight of the tallest tree I have ever seen – we could see if from miles away. Going of Nefril’s directions Naweeha’s house should be nearby. He was right, we found her house with ease. Turns out she was expecting as, the Hag welcomed us in and gave us an interesting spread to eat. As we ate dinner, she gave us a poetry reading. A simple piece that held the key to ending the curse upon this land. It seems we need to find the ‘swearing stone’ and destroy it. Before retiring for the evening Naweeha gave us a fortune reading, she merely said to me ‘Bugs and good, but guard your wood’. What is that supposed to mean? All the other fortune readings I’ve had all tell me that I’m going to met my husband very soon. The next day following Naweeha’s instructions we went off in search of the swearing stone. On the way we were ambushed by Spear grass creatures! They were difficult to fight and poor Reza walked right into my cloud of Daggers. The land around us was also treacherous as black ooze seeped from the ground. It was everywhere. The temple complex that swearing stone was kept in was surrounded by a moat filled with the horrible liquid as well. Getting closer to the temple it was guarded by Boars whose bodies wiggled unnaturally. Killing them, released swarms of grubs everywhere. Lucky for us Elphim remembered their fire arrows. That wasn't enough for poor sweet Tordak, the filthy bugs burrowed into his body and slowly began to kill him! Thankfully Arnulf was able to save him. Inside the temple was a huge yellow glowing stone. This must be the swearing stone! The beautiful artwork around the building showed figures crying yellow teardrops, perhaps this is a ‘tear of a god’ mentioned in Naweehas' poem. The poem also stated that we needed a ‘wooden worms of rod’ to destroy it. Arnulf figured that the weapon might be back in the temple of Kayassit. So much travelling! First things first, we need to go back to Hope to rest. This whole adventure has inspiring me to write a delightful fairy tale. Under here diary entry Gigi’s writes the opening passage for the tale of the ‘ The Fog and the Hag’ “Once upon a time in a far-away land there was a little girl, who adored her mother very much. Her mother was a powerful priestess of the moon, loved by all her people. But fear had taken hold of the priestess heart as invaders from the west were coming to destroy everything, she held dear. In order to safeguard her people, she committed a terrible sin. Hoping that her death will allow for her daughter and all followers to live, she paid the ultimate price to call upon the power of the moon. However, it was not her god that answered her call. The priestess was deceived by a demon masquerading as a saviour and a long-cursed shadow was cast across the land. Even as the brave rose up and defeated the fiend, its foul blood ran across the land corrupting everything that it touched.”
