Rumors and Notices at the Stuck Pig You can't miss it - the noticeboard in the Stuck Pig dominates the wall opposite its entrance, a great mess of help wanted, missing persons, and horse for sale adverts cluttering a number of potential leads for daring adventurers to follow up in the nearby Harrowmere. The gateway to the rest of the savage frontier, the Harrowmere is a blighted marshlands full of biting insects, venomous snakes, warring humanoid tribes, and half-submerged remnants of the Old Empire - the perfect place to get rich or die trying. Below, you'll find the current smattering of Help Wanted posters, with others either unlocked later or to be found as you explore the Harrowmere. ------ Open Quests A Bit of Blood (Level 1) Ulman Dark is looking for aid in constructing a Wand of Sleep . Such a process requires the blood of a dryad, and so he is offering 200 gold pieces per person and a single Wand of Sleep to the party that can obtain such a rare ingredient on his behalf. The Hagwood is the obvious place to look, but perhaps the Mushroom Forest in the Harrowmere's south might also hold the key to this task? The Reclamation of Lull: The Tomb of the Dwarven King (Level 1) A band of dwarves has arrived from distant Gauntlgrym intent on the reclamation of Lull. While bands of adventurers can still test their mettle against the front entrance to the vast city, the dwarves have a more organised plan in mind. Ancient texts speak of a complicated series of locks required to access the Great Gates of Lull (not to be confused with the Southern Gates), the keys to which were said to have been buried with the son of the last king to sit in Lull. A reward of 100 gold pieces is on offer to each adventurer brave enough to venture into the king's long abandoned tomb and retrieve the key needed to access the Great Gate. The Lizardfolk Raid (Level 1) A number of farms on the outskirts of Hope were recently raided by a tribe of lizardfolk. With Hope's militia hard-pressed to man its own walls and keep the peace with so many drunken adventurers within its walls, Mayor Penfold has called for brave heroes to venture out and investigate. The group is to head to the southernmost of the farmsteads and speak with any survivors, find out where the lizardfolk went, and deal with them once and for all. A reward of 100 gold pieces each is on offer for the group that successfully ends the lizardfolk threat in the area. A Most Potent Brew (Level 1) A dwarf by the name of Therin Glowkindle has arrived in Hope with hopes (pun intended) of opening a craft brewery. He believes that the normally tropical climate in the Harrowmere will be perfect for making hoppy SPA (Savage Pale Ale)'s, but has run into a problem: workers in his cellars were attacked by rats the size of mastiffs! He is looking to employ a party of bold adventurers clear out the rats and find out where they had come from. Trouble on the Rocky Coast (Level 1+) - IN PROGRESS A knight by the name of Sir Urso has recently come to Hope representing Baron Scrofo Sosii , whose minor kingdom on the coast that hugs the eastern edge of the Harrowmere has recently been experiencing a worrying string of disappearances. The Baron believes these disappearances are due to Green Annie , a wicked hag that dwells in the Black Fen, a swamp of smaller size than the Harrowmere, but no less danger. He has invited brave adventurers to travel down the coast via long boats he has at anchor in Hope's harbor, visit with him at his manor, and then commence their investigations in the nearby settlements of Longshores and Sandy Bottom, where the majority of disappearances have occured. He is offering the sum of 1,000 gold pieces to the party that can get to the bottom of the disappearances, with an additional bounty of 100 gold pieces for each missing person located - dead or alive.] . Enter the Barrowmaze (Level 1+) Local legend talks of a vast series of mist-shrouded barrow mounds at the heart of the Ettinheights. Remnants of some long forgotten empire, this extensive network of burial mounds and tombs is rumoured to be so awash with wealth that only its vaunted undead guardians have kept it pilfered all these years. Bold adventurers wanting to strike it rich quick would do well to consider an expedition into the Ettinheights to plunder the riches of the long dead. DM's Note : The Barrowmaze is a multi-level dungeon crawl. Any numbers of parties may visit it. Expedition to the Mouth of Doom (Level 1+) Recent expeditions to the famed Mouth of Doom have told tales of bandit gangs, the wandering dead, and hidden treasure. While none now quite how deep this dungeon might go, some have returned telling tales of hidden depths just waiting to be mapped and picked clean. DM's Note : The Mouth of Doom is a multi-level dungeon crawl. Any numbers of parties may visit it. Beneath Firestone Keep (1-2) Lord Alberich Blackmoor is a relatively recent arrival into Hope, having purchased a parcel of land to go with his title. He and his sister, Zoreene have recently made inquiries around Hope looking for adventurers for a project of non-specific risk and reward. The group willing to travel to his manor house and meet with him has been offered a reward of 500 gold pieces for whatever service they undertake on his behalf. Winter's Daughter (Level 1-3) Several people within Hope have reported having strange dreams of late. In these dreams, a beautiful elf maiden clad in white appears and beckons the group towards the Hagwood. In those dreams, those who go to her enter a vine-clad barrow mound, take a ring from a skeleton's finger, and place it upon the finger of the maiden fair. She promises both her heart and the wealth of her kingdom to the hero brave enough to go to her. The Caves of Chaos (Level 1-6) A recent expedition into the southern Ettinheights has uncovered an area of singular evil. Locals are calling it the Caves of Chaos, due to both the sheer number of caves honeycombing the valley and the variety of evil humanoid clans that call them home. Reports state that the various cave complexes are home to goblins, kobolds, orcs, gnolls, hobgoblins, bugbears, and more. Worse, a cult known only as the Cult of Evil Chaos are said to be pulling the strings behind it all. They must surely be stopped if the region is ever to be tamed, else they may unite these warring factions and invade the Harrowmere! DM's Note : The Caves of Chaos are a multi-level dungeon crawl. Any numbers of parties may visit it. The Goblin Fortress (Level 1-6) Recent reports of increased goblin activity in the area around Strade's Gallows have caused concern within the hierarchy of Hope, who fear the goblins may soon become bold enough to attack the village and its surrounding farms. A bounty of 5 gold piece for every goblin ear retrieved is on offer, with additional monetary rewards on offer for any group able to eventually clear out the goblin fortress: a whopping 5,000 gold pieces to be split between the heroes who help to achieve this goal. A Matter of Honor (Level 2-3) Sir Quincy Penfold has something of a personal problem that he needs handled with discretion. His sister, Bronwyn Penfold , was recently visiting and has disappeared. Penfold noted that his old friend/occasional rival, Baron Agwain had expressed most ardent interest in wedding the Lady Bronwyn , but she had rebuffed all of his advances. He fears that the Baron has spirited her away in hopes of winning her over through sheer persistence. He offers a reward of a warhorse, chain mail barding, and the choice of a suit of medium armor, an exotic weapon from his collection, or a minor magic item from his sister's collection in exchange for her safe return. The Scarlet Citadel (Level 2+) Local herbalist, Ichbon Teastrainer is a fine, upstanding halfling beloved by the people of Hope. He ventured out two weeks ago on one of his usual foraging forays and has yet to return, leaving his room at the Stuck Pig unpaid for. Otto Bristleback is concerned, as this is highly unlike the usually reliable halfling. He's doubly concerned because this is not the first disappearance of late. A trader by the name of Davina Lowery was due to arrive from Strade's Gallows more than two weeks ago now, but neither she nor her wagon have been found on the road or near it. A recently returned band of adventurers did not spot her either. Their only point of commonality was that both would have been traveling in the vicinity of the ruins of the Scarlet Citadel. A reward of 750 gold pieces has been offered for the group willing to go out and discover their fates. DM's Note : The Scarlet Citadel is a multi-level dungeon crawl. Any numbers of parties may visit it. Wood for Castle Bentfingers (Level 2) While others are out looking to secure a source of stone to complete repairs on Castle Bentfingers, Mayor Quincy Penfold has suggested that a good source of lumber might be found on the northern outskirts of the Hagwood. The lumber camp in the region has not yet received its resupply for the month, and so Mayor Penfold is offering a reward of 300 gold pieces to the group that can safely escort the supplies to the lumber mill and collect payment from the loggers. The Flayed Man (Level 2+) After Rofir returned from his visit to Strade's Gallows with the flayed remains of a dead man, his wife Millivent recognised this as the skin of her beloved husband. The man and their three children were kidnapped by goblin marauders less than a week ago, and while it appears her husband met a grisly end at the hands of bullywugs, she has implored adventurers to go out and rescue her missing children. The plot has since thickened, with the goblins being forced from their home by Dragon Cultists. Moved by her plight, Sir Quincy Penfold is offering a reward of 750 gold pieces to the group that can track down the goblins, infiltrate their lair, and bring out the missing family. The Sunken Tower (Level 2+) Several parties have complained of attacks from bullywug in recent weeks. A scout has returned to town with information as to the whereabouts of a large bullywug den, and Mayor Quincy Penfold is offering 500 gold pieces each to the band that can venture out to the ruined wizard's tower and drive out the resident bullywugs. Any treasure you find there is yours to keep. The Font of Pestilence (Level 2-4) Word has reached Father Cadfael in Hope about the corruption of the Temple of Pelor now known as the Font of Pestilence. While several brave heroes currently delve its tainted depths in search of sacred texts for Ulman Dark, Father Cadfael is offering 500 gold pieces, a scroll of raise dead , a diamond worth 300 gp, and a wand of lesser restoration to the party that can find the cause of the temple's corruption and cleanse it. The Slaying Stone (Level 2-4) The wizard, Nefril has long called the Harrowmere home, and has recently reached out to Mayor Quincy Penfold requesting the aid of Hope's seemingly endless source of adventurers with a matter of some importance. He believes one of the infamous Slaying Stones that once defended a long since overrun village named Kiris Dahn may yet remain amidst the ruins of the settlement. With goblins now having overrun the village, it is only a matter of time before they get their hands upon a potentially deadly magical item. A Slaying Stone could be used to snuff out all life in a large radius, and so it is imperative that one does not end up in the hands of Hu-Jat, the hobgoblin who leads the goblins and kobolds in the village ruins. Worse, the Severed Eyes tribe of orcs has recently been seen snooping about. Could they be after the Slaying Stone as well? Nefril seeks bold adventurers to visit his tower (just over the second bridge) and meet with him regarding this most crucial quest! Digging for Graves in Strade's Gallows (Level 2-3) The village of Strade's Gallows has a strange predicament: its children have recently been afflicted with a strange illness that makes them listless by day, but forces them to sleepwalk by night. The strangest part? Children sleepwalking tend to spend their nights digging in the soil, with several having already died after tumbling into old wells or mine shafts. The people of Strade's Gallows have invited a party of adventurers to visit with them, attend a welcome ball, and investigate the cause for the mystery illness. A reward of 1,750 gold pieces has been offered to the party that can get to the bottom of the mystery. The Kobold Tunnels (Level 3+) Fabio Derring , famed adventurer and chronicler, has heard rumours that an entrance to the Underdark lies somewhere in the Harrowmere. He's entirely too busy to look into this himself, and so has offered a cornucopia containing six potions of undisclosed quality, 800 gold pieces, and a folio containing six scrolls of undisclosed quality to the party that can venture into the kobold-infested tunnels and confirm his suspicion. Keep on the Shadowfell (Level 3+) Brother Cadfael has been wracked by dire visions of late, all of which point to a Death Cult devoted to Orcus being active within the region. The cultists, led by a madman named Kalarel , seem intent on locating an ancient gateway to the Shadowfell and opening it. The horrors that might boil out are untold, and so he has petitioned his church for aid. The Church of Lathander is not only offering 250 gold pieces to each adventurer who helps in rooting out the cult, but is also offering the successful party an immense boon: a chest containing a dozen potions of healing, six potions of lesser restoration , two potions of greater restoration , three scrolls of revivify , and a scroll of raise dead.' The Reclamation of Lull: The Orc Menace (Level 3+) A band of dwarves has arrived from distant Gauntlgrym intent on the reclamation of Lull. While bands of adventurers can still test their mettle against the front entrance to the vast city, the dwarves have a more organised plan in mind. In order to establish a foothold in the mountains, however, the Iron Garrison Guards have requested aid in clearing out a nearby cave complex of the orcs that inhabit it. Only when they have been removed can the camp be set up safely. They're offering a reward of 200 gold pieces and a high-quality dwarvish weapon, trinket, or piece of armor to each member of the group able to root out the orcs. The Reclamation of Lull: Aberrant Caverns (Level 3+) A band of dwarves has arrived from distant Gauntlgrym intent on the reclamation of Lull. While bands of adventurers can still test their mettle against the front entrance to the vast city, the dwarves have a more organised plan in mind. In attempting to delve into the mountain and connect with an underground passage in hopes of gaining a 'back door' into the mountain, four dwarvish miners inadvertently stumbled into a series of caves infested with creatures out of nightmare. The Iron Garrison Miners are offering a reward of a 400 gold piece gemstone for each of the four dwarves rescued, as well as an additional reward of 500 gold pieces if a demolition charge can be taken to the heart of the infested complex and set off, sealing off the accursed tunnel forever. The Reclamation of Lull: Under Illefarn (Level 3+) A band of dwarves has arrived from distant Gauntlgrym intent on the reclamation of Lull. While bands of adventurers can still test their mettle against the front entrance to the vast city, the dwarves have a more organised plan in mind. In order to bolster their numbers, the Gauntlgrym contingent hopes to enlist the aid of a band of dwarves said to dwell beneath Illefarn mountain to the west of Lull's South Gate. These dwarves are said to be locked in a three-way battle for control of their holdings against a tribe of orcs and a band of necromancers, and winning their aid would require rooting out these threats. In exchange for winning over the Illefarn dwarves, a reward of 1,500 gold pieces is in offer. A Source of Stones (Level 3+) Fizzbang Wizzpopper is looking for brave adventurers to help him with his latest project: the creation of enhanced arcane focuses to be sold in Goldar's Emporium! In order to do this, he'll need access to a good supply of Warp Stone, which he believes can be found in the ancient Elvish ruin of Vilverin. He is offering a reward of 100 gold pieces per stone returned to him, as well as a discounted rate on the enhanced arcane focuses he creates using the stones. Vilverin lies somewhere between the Old Road and Strade's Gallows, and is said to be haunted, infested with bandits, or both. Bad Magic (Level 3+) A newly opened magic shop on the outskirts of Hope has recently ceased all communication with the outside world, causing Mayor Quincy Penfold III to fear the worst. He has asked any adventurer brave enough to check on the health of the wizard, Nefril to do so with all haste. While he cannot offer a monetary reward, he is quite confident a purveyor of magic items will be able to adequately reward any adventurer brave enough to aid him. Green Glows the Moon (Level 3+) A strange phenomenon was sighted over the southern Harrowmere this past week, with farmers claiming that they saw a strange, green glow emanating from the swamp during the New Moon. Sir Quincy Penfold III has offered 1,500 gold pieces to the group that can discover the source of the eerie glowing, either during the next new moon or, preferably, sooner. A Source of Stone (Level 3+) - IN PROGRESS The need for a reliable source of stone in order to undertake repairs at Castle Bent Fingers is intense. Local survey records indicate that one such quarry exists in the mountains not far from the pass into the Ettinheights. Brave adventurers are needed to seek out this quarry, rid it of any current inhabitants, and make it safe for miners from Hope to begin their work. Temple of the Toadfolk (Level 3+) A temple dedicated to the dead goddess, Besharas has recently emerged from the swamp as if called forth by some profane power. Said to have once been home to a bloodstone of immense power, the temple has already been claimed by a number of bullywug and dhrnu, a species of sentient toadfolk native to the region. A local scout, Brand the Brash has been charged with leading a diplomatic mission out into the swamp and is offering 600 gold pieces per person to any adventurers brave enough to accompany him. Sacrifices to the Devourer (Level 3+) - IN PROGRESS Several prominent members of Korthos were kidnapped during the sahuagin raid on the village, with many fearing that they have been taken away to act as sacrifices for The Devourer. Ursa has tracked the sahuagin reavers to an abandoned aqueduct complex in the island's south, and Mayor Storr is offering a reward of 350 gold pieces to each adventurer who ventures out and successfully brings back his kidnapped family and citizens. The Redemption of Lars Heyton (Level 3+) The enigmatic wizard, Lars Heyton has not been seen in some time, but rumour has it that he may yet live. If this is true, his aid will be invaluable in combatting the dragon whose magic has brought about the unnatural winter. Said to be hiding out in an abandoned manufactury of the Old Empire, it is urgent that he is sought out and brought into the fold if the dragon is to be defeated. The people of Korthos are offering a reward of a six-person boat to the group that can bring Lars Heyton 'back from the dead' by finding his hiding place and escorting him safely to town. Assassins in Korthos (Level 3+) The owner of the Wavecrest Inn on Korthos is convinced that an attempt will soon be made against his life by the nefarious Jacoby Drexelhand, a sour-faced old man who betrayed his people to align with the sahuagin recently defeated by the Heroes of Korthos. He is offering a reward of 500 gold pieces and a unique runearm - the Thought Spike. This magical item can be charged using a bonus action, with charges being used to cast a variety of spells including eldritch blast, thunderwave, and magic missile. Slavers in the Ruined Keep (Level 4+) Reports of elf slavers in a ruined keep only two days' travel from Hope have caused a great deal of unrest, with locals worried that these mystically gifted elves may yet descend upon the town and make slaves of its people. Mayor Quincy Penfold is offering a reward of 2,000 gold pieces for whoever can retrieve the head of their leader and bring back evidence of the band's nefarious goals. The Lost City of Lull (Level 4+) A farmer recently came upon a great, stone gate in the Spine of the World, almost directly north of Hope. Urlich Pryn , a newcomer to the city, is a historian with a great deal of interest in uncovering the lost temple city of Lull, and will reward any group able to gain access to the city the princely sum of 1,500 gold pieces. Arid Ruin (Level 4+) Muredach has heard rumours that a silver sword that once belonged to his adventuring companion, Four-Fingered Burkles lies in a ruin in the easternmost fringes of the infamous Red Wastes. This stretch of forbidding desert lies to the west of the Harrowmere. He needs a group to venture out to the ruins and retrieve the blade on his behalf. He is offering a bounty of 500 gold pieces per person, as well as his fabled Handaxe of Celerity , a potent magic weapon that imbues its wielder with uncanny speed. Rumor Has It (Level 4+) - IN PROGRESS As a reward for their selfless rescue of slaves in the captivity of ogres, the would-be explorers of Lull have been given a potentially lucrative rumour about a source of power in the Harrowmere. If the freed captives are to be believed, a piece of a falling star fell into the area north of Strade's Gallows recently. Who knows what kind of rare and valuable materials might have come to earth with the falling star? The Heart of Abu-Ra (Level 4+) Adventurers recently returned from an adventure to the north of Borin's Folly have reported seeing a stepped pyramid. Local scholar, Walter Whittlesworth believes this to be the lost Temple of Abu-Ra, where a legendary artifact known as the Heart of Abu-Ra is said to possess immense healing powers capable of bringing back the dead. He is offering the sum of 3,000 gold pieces to any group bold enough to accompany him to this long lost ruin and see him safely to his goal: the Heart of Abu-Ra. Big Happy Al's Big Happy Rescue Mission (Level 4+) Fresh off his rescue from orcs, Big Al has disappeared in attempting to rescue his family from those who had kidnapped them. He mentioned to Blaze and his companions that he was venturing into the northern Barrow Downs to track them down, and Mayor Quincy Penfold is now offering a reward of 1,250 gp for his safe return. My Little Nightmare (Level 4+) Noted Brony, Blaze is on the hunt for a fabled horse with a mane of flames. Big Al has reported that his ranchers have seen it on occasion in the Barrow Downs, and Blaze seeks aid in tracking it down. Exploring the Mausoleum (Level 4+) The recently returned expedition that had set out to find Fort Harrow told tales of a horrendous mausoleum guarded by gargoyles of green stone. Not only is the witch, Zhanna interested in such creatures, but Mayor Quincy Penfold would also like to know more about the haunted location. If it is within just two days' travel of town, it could present a threat to Hope. He is offering a sum of 750 gold pieces per person as well as six Potions of Healing to any group that can visit the mausoleum and return with some concrete information as to its purpose. DM's Note : The Mausoleum is a multi-level dungeon crawl. Any numbers of parties may visit it. The Swamp of Sorrows (Level 4+) Edith Plumridge, a wealthy woman known for her taste in younger men, has placed a handsome bounty of 2,500 gold pieces for any group who can track down her missing lover, Todd. The man is a noted trapper and furrier in the region, and quite at home in the swamp, but she insists he must have fallen afoul of some fell power if he has not returned to her over-perfumed bosom. Return to the Shrine of the Emperor of Bones (Level 5+) Death was merely a setback for the self-proclaimed "Emperor of Bones", and it appears he has returned with a vengeance. Farmers and fishermen in the region have spoken of roving bands of undead stalking and killing any who cross their paths. A party of adventurers may well need to return to the tomb and see it cleansed, lest his hordes threaten Hope itself. The Usurper's Tower (Level 5+) A local war hero by the name of Dagny has recently fallen into the hands of the goblins of Fort Harrow. While they have not yet returned with him to their lair, they have sent a message to the people of Hope demanding a ransom of 5,000 gold pieces be paid for his relief. The town's coffers cannot bear such a cost, so they have instead offered the sum of 2,000 gold pieces to any group that can bring Dagny safely home and punish those who kidnapped him with righteous fury. The Haunt in the Hagwood (Level 5+) Messages from the village of Levoca in the Hagwood speak of a strangely beautiful woman who appears each month during the full moon, singing a hauntingly beautiful song and luring men away from the village. When they draw near to her, she lets out a keening wail that immediately kills any who hear it. The people of Levoca have implored the people of Hope for aid, and Ulman Dark is offering a bounty of 2,500 gold pieces to the group that can slay the spirit and return her ectoplasmic discharge to him for investigation.\ Crawler Chasm (Level 5+) The enigmatic drow bounty hunter, Malice Tissaran has recently made contact with adventurers he encountered in the Harrowmere asking for their aid in opening the way to the Underdark. He has located a promising entry point west of Castle Callelan, but requires a band of heroes to clear it of its eight-legged inhabitants. In addition to any loot they're able to find and 1,500 gold pieces, he is also offering up a cloak of elvenkind , a pair of boots of elvenkind , and a +1 hand crossbow to the band that completes his quest. The Basilisk's Den (Level 5+) Recent attacks from basilisks along the Old Road are cause for increased concern, especially with the recent beginning of reconstruction efforts at Castle Callelan. With this in mind, Sir Quincy Penfold III and the town council have offered up a sum of no less than 2,500 gold pieces to the group that can venture into their swampy lair and put them to the sword. This is in addition to any existing bounties on basilisks, as progress cannot be impeded by these accursed lizards! Troll Trouble (Level 5+) The druid Lizzie and the monk, Diarmuid (may they both rest in peace) reportedly found evidence of trolls in the marsh less than a day's travel from Hope. If such creatures are venturing so close to civilization, it can only be a matter of time before they grow bold enough to assault the village walls. A group of concerned citizens is willing to pay a bounty of 250 gold pieces for each troll head brought back to them, with an additional reward of 2,750 gold pieces if their lair can be found and destroyed. The Secrets of Skyhorn Lighthouse (Level 5+) Recent shipments of food and other vital sundries have been disrupted by reports of a sea monster rampaging off the southern coast. With orders for Muredach's Smithy and Goldar's Emporium impacted, adventurers are starting to grumble about the delay in their orders of healing potions, watermelons, and exotic weapons. A reward of 250 gold pieces each has been offered to the group that can end the impasse, with an additional reward of 250 gold pieces each for the safe return of the crew of the most recently delayed ship: the Jade Lion. More importantly, ending the sea monster threat will reopen trade, which is vital to the lifeblood of Hope's economy and the survival of its adventurers. Wanted: Ragemaw (Level 5+) - IN PROGRESS The dragon, Ragemaw attacked Hope two weeks' past, burning down buildings and killing a number of people in petty revenge for the murder of one of its goblin allies. A bounty of 5,000 gold pieces has been offered to the group that brings back the creature's head as proof of its demise. Finishing Fuko (Level 5+) The refugees from Shibai who now call Hope home yearn to return to their idyllic mountain village and rebuild, but this cannot be done as long as the wicked air spirit, Fuko remains alive. It is believed that Fuko's brother, Kumo-Rui, is an ice spirit that dwells in the mountains between the Harrowmere and the Ettinheights. With his fang, a brave band of heroes might be able to rid Robai Shita Temple of the foul spirit's taint once and for all. Feud Primordial (Level 5+) In a metal shell of some kind driven by crawling tracks, an odd woman calling herself Akia the Iron Shell has arrived in Hope. Brandishing impressive firearms and scowling at anybody who so much as sniffs in her direction, the old woman insists she has been sent from one of the villages in the Ettinheights to seek aid. An oni-touched sorcerer by the name of Shinjirarenai has been developing a following in the southern Ettinheights. As if this weren't bad enough, he has stolen a shipment of goods bound for Akia's estate and she will pay to the tune of 2,500 gold pieces to have her precious cargo returned. Raiders of the Harrowmere (Level 5+) With her plans to crown a new lizardfolk king thwarted, the dragon Throstulgrael is on the warpath, attacking caravans and fishing villages in her rage. This has left her treasure hoard unguarded and ripe for the picking. Are you brave enough to venture into a dragon's lair and lay claim to her treasure? Into the Woods (Level 5+) Sir Quincy Penfold III is distraught! His beloved niece and nephew, Hannah and Gretchen , have recently disappeared while picking flowers on the fringes of the Hagwood! He is offering a sum of 5,000 gold pieces to the band of heroes that can venture into the Wildwood and safely return his beloved kin to him. The Griffons of Griffith's Roost (Level 5+) An animal trainer from the east has recently come into town seeking aid in securing a clutch of griffon eggs from Griffith's Roost in the Ettinheights. In addition to a monetary reward of 2,500 gold pieces, he is willing to provide a discount on purchasing a trained griffon to each party member who successfully returns an egg to him. A flying mount would be invaluable in exploring beyond the borders of the Harrowmere. The Ghosts of Merrit Castle (Level 5+) Baron Leo Wilson of Korthos Island has recently sent a request for aid to the people of Hope. He has recently inherited his family's ancestral home on the island, but has found it to be completely and thoroughly haunted. If ever he is going to claim his birthright, he'll need the help of brave heroes. In addition to a reward of 2,000 gold pieces, he is offering fine warhorses from his stables to each hero bold enough to come to his aid. The Black Fane (Level 5+) Explorers in the Ettinheights have made note of a strange black temple just north of the pass. While they were not able to investigate, Brother Cadfael is offering the princely sum of 5,000 gold pieces to the group that explores its depths and returns with word of its purpose. Dubbed "The Temple of Final Sacrament", it is believed to be tied to the worship of Orcus, the Demon Prince of Undeath. DM's Note : The Black Fane is a multi-level dungeon crawl. Any numbers of parties may visit it. Messenger, Interrupted (Level 5+) An important message for Sir Quincy Penfold is long overdue in arriving. Fearing the worst, he has had Ulman Dark use divination magic and has discerned that the messenger (and his message) seem to have come to a rather abrupt halt in the Hagwood. With the message delivered via an object enchanted with magic mouth , he's hopeful a party can retrieve it from whatever might have slain the messenger and bring it to him. He is offering 3,000 gold pieces for this task. Plan 23 from Outer Space (Level 5+) A strange psychic message has recently been haunting the minds of sleeping residents and adventurers in Hope, seemingly calling for help to avert some kind of crash. Scouts in the region have tracked the source of the message to the western Harrowmere, and Fizzbang Whizzpopper is eager to figure out what might be causing the phenomenon. He is offering a reward of 2,000 gold pieces, a customized alchemical or mechanical reward for each player, and discounts on his stock to any group that can investigate. The Fleshcrafter's Workshop (Level 5+) Ulman Dark has recently announced his is looking for a group of brave adventurers to launch a daring raid against a pair of academic rivals who have recently established a workshop on the fringes of the Hagwood. He suspects that this pair of golemancers has obtained a Manual of Flesh Golem Creation , and will pay the sum of 2,500 gold pieces to the party that can retrieve it by any means necessary. He may even be convinced to construct a flesh golem to aid in the defense of Castle Callelan too... The Buried Facility (Level 5+) Archaeologists digging west of Castle Bentfingers have come back to Hope with a fascinating discovery: a mysterious facility buried in the swamp and guarded by some kind of automated ballista that flings radiant energy at those who approach too closely. If this marvellous technology protects such a place, what might lie within its long-sealed halls? Who might have built such a place and do they still call the place home? A Cure for Death (Level 6+) Father Cadfael believes he has found a way to distil an elixir capable of bringing back the dead if it is imbibed within moments of death. He just needs components to bring it to fruition. He is offering a reward of 5,000 gold pieces and three doses of his miraculous elixir to the group that can venture into the Hagwood and harvest the rare mushrooms needed. The hitch? These mushrooms are only known to grow in a region notorious for its vicious shadow cat population. Vault of the Dracolich (Level 5-8) Until recently, the Cult of the Dragon had been seen as little more than a minor annoyance. Their claims of ownership of the Harrowmere have not been backed up by their draconic masters, nor have they imposed their will upon Hope, Strade's Gallows, or any of the other settlements in the region. Unfortunately, this is all about to change. Noted adventurer, Artus Cimber has recently been in the area and reported that the Cult of the Dragon have managed to get their hands on a powerful magic item: the Diamond Staff of Chomylla . It is believed the cult plans to use the staff to resurrect a long dead dragon as a powerful dracolich, which would surely give them the firepower they need to more fully exert their will over the region.
