Sat atop a wicked mountain, the Castle looms over the city, serving as a constant reminder that much of the world remains unexplored and forgotten. Some time ago, a group of adventurers called the Red Four ventured out into Castle Starbreeze alongside a platoon of well-trained soldiers. Supposedly, the group successfully vanquished whatever evil once inhabited the place, or so the survivors said… After a yearlong reprieve, the village nestled just below the Castle recently reported a flickering of light spilling out of the windows of the keep just after sundown. Feelings of unease wash over the kingdom that only a group of bold adventurers, such as yourselves, can quell. (This is an adventure for 3-6 player characters) A bit about the Setting: Aldwynne is a fantasy world recovering from the brink of apocalypse. Long ago most of the continent of Latoria (The main continent/focus of my campaigns) was conquered by the Wraith King, his bloody crusade left very few civilizations still standing. After a supposed clash in the City of Cardinal, neither the Wraith King’s or the city of Cardinal’s forces have been seen or heard from in over 25 years. The few surviving civilizations mentioned beforehand, now cut off from Cardinal, have been left to fend for themselves and rebuild in a dangerous world, the main bastion of which is the new capital city Fairtide. How I run the Setting: Aldwynne is a heavily homebrew setting that I and some friends have been working on for several years, so far it has had 5 finished campaigns take place in it, and currently has 3 ongoing campaigns taking place in the world that I run each week. Most of my campaigns are ran sandbox style with the players eventually making large decisions that affect not only their campaigns, but the setting in general (that being said there are still story/adventure hooks set up everywhere, but it is up to the players to decide what they want to do). Crossovers between this and my other campaigns can take place, so people outside this game who play an important roll in the world might make guest appearances from time to time and eventually you might be asked to do so as well. The Reason It’s Pay to Play: Aldwynne is a project I enjoy working on, but running 4 campaigns a week is a bit much. I am always looking to add more people and characters into the world and small community we have on discord, but in order to make sure I can do such a thing requires some support. I will put most of the money players spend back into working on the setting, whether that by paying for extra roll20 supplements (Monster Manual, Tasha’s Cauldron, etc), getting art commissioned, Roll20Pro, DungeonFog and other upkeeps. Additionally the small fee helps mitigate some of the less mature players and no-shows. Homebrew Stuff/Session 0: Session 0 is free. There are a number of homebrew subclasses, races, feats, and spells unique to my setting which are kept on my World Anvil page, all of this will be discussed and available during session 0. Session 0 will also be used to establish & finalize the player characters as well as give a brief rundown of the setting, social contract, and rules. Rules and Other Stuff: 1. Bigotry is not allowed: Racism, Sexism, Homophobia and other forms of bigotry will result in you being kicked from the campaign without refund. Directed harassment against other players in the game will result in the same. 2. Outside homebrew content is usually going to be a no-go, that said most Unearthed Arcana is allowed. Always check with me if you’re thinking of using homebrew or UA content. 3. PVP is almost never allowed, that being said if all players present consent to it then it will be allowed. But in the case of PVP coming up a conversation out of character must be had to make sure everyone is comfortable with what will/could happen. 4. New players are welcome. I will do my best to help teach any new players the ropes of D&D, including rules, helping creating your character, and helping with character RP direction. 5. Be on time , Make sure before signing up for this campaign that the time works for you for the foreseeable future, if an emergency or something comes up and you have to cancel a session try to give at least a days’ notice. If one of the players is unable to make it to a session due to an emergency it will usually be canceled and delayed until the next week. When such a thing happens no payment for the canceled week is required. 6. Payment: Payment is $10 USD per player per session paid via PayPal or Venmo. Payments are collected after each session. 7. Session Length: Sessions will range from 3 to 4 hours in length; each session will begin with a recap of the last session given by one of the players. 8. Requirements: A working microphone (preferably with minimal background noise), Discord, English proficiency, Availability at the listed time of 8pm CST on Tuesdays If you are interested check out the link at the top of the page, if you have any questions feel free to reply below or make a thread in the discussions of the linked game
