Mindful of Tork's growing impatience and rather than wait for Forest of Spirits to gather his forces for another attack on Udra, the party decides to book passage on a trading ship to Ravensland. The ship voyage took 12 days. The voyage to Ravensland was only interrupted by a night attack by a dire shark Which Amadou easily diverted with a control water spell, sucking the beast into a maelstrom and three days later they arrive in the trading post of Bachile on the 5th of Mist 6144. Bachile is a small log palisade village on the banks of the Marika River quite near the coast of the Methoataske Clans. Languages spoken include Udran, Ravensbark, Daltic and, rarely, Aquan (Only by the wandering clerics of Trameron.) Torkunde does most of the translating and talking for the party and surprisingly his abrupt, direct manner goes over quite well with his native people. They learn that Forest of Spirits maybe hiding in the far north, in Fortress Karrack, with the assistance of mature white dragon called Hinterbite.  The party obtains a map and druid guide, Skov, who speaks halting Udra in addition to Ravensbark. Skov and Amadou spend the night voyaging to Tripout City on medicinal mushroom tea. As the rest of the party enjoys savory potato and cedar smoked salmon stew in Skov's longhouse in deep in the forest outside Bachile. The party also obtained fur coats mittens, hats, a dog sledge and two huskies to pull Scallapronon--since as an Azer he can't ride horses without burning them.  With Skov and Mystery, the party sets out but only after two days, they are attacked by nine blinking, diabolic hounds. They bring their best spells and martial ability to the fight but their opponents are tougher than expected. They lose their horse and sled dogs to the dark, infernal hounds. Magic Missile is cast on Mystery and the party turns to see a spell caster gesticulating on a ridge over the battle. Amadou hurls lightning at the enemy wizard, Mystery uses his abilities as well and Torkunde runs and jumps to the top of the ridge to put a sword through the man. But they only discover the wizard is actually an illusion. The real spellcaster is hidden somewhere else. Dignan and Torkunde have both been cast into crushing despair but Tork is protected by Mystery's Circle of Protection from Evil.  As the battle rages, Amadou and Skov focus on trying to find where the enemy wizard is hiding to no avail until Amadou wild ships from a falcon into dire snow leopard. With the leopard body's keen sense of smell, Amadou finally tracks down the wizard very well hidden in the trees. The battle has changed but is not yet over.
