Got a full group, but wanting to offer advice to new DMs and players.

Hey all, I've been playing various editions of D&D and other pen and paper games for about 28 years now, I've been a dungeon master/ game master/ and story-teller (varied names for a DM) for around 25 of those years. I'm not especially cocky but I've been told by a lot of my groups that I should offer my advice and experience to more people. Make it accessible and all that jazz. Now I don't know 5E well, I pretty much switched over to pathfinder after 4E kinda let me down. That said I know running games pretty well, and I figured this was as good a place as any to offer up my tips and tricks. Think of it as sort of a Q&A thread. I'm really glad to see so many young people playing and becoming active in the world of tabletop gaming and this is about the best I can do to offer support and guidance to that new generation. May your 20s be natural and your 1s be epic!
Im 27yo Recently started watching DnD games on youtube, been enjoying watching the stories unfold and how people maneuver through combat. The game looks soo entertaining, makes me really want to play. I have never participated in a game, read the rules or anything like but want to get involved and find a group that can show me the ropes. I guess point me in the right direction on how to get started, or character creation tips?
