Having learned of its despicable connection to Lord Volmer , Titus had entrusted his mother's polearm to the Order of the Gauntlet . A priest named Malen promised him it would be locked away safely. So it was a surprise to Titus when, on his way to meet the ancient silver dragon Elia on the northern outskirts of Waterdeep , he saw that same priest giving Dawnbringer to a woman in an alley. The woman he was giving it to was also familiar - Titus recognized her as the succubus spy seen in the visions from the Tomb of Diderius . Halle and Livia were next to Titus and noticed this exchange too. They asked Naivara to stall Elia while they took care of this. Malen and the succubus saw the trio and ran away, splitting up as they did so. Halle and Livia gave chase to the succubus, while Titus broke away to chase after Malen. After two separate but equally lively chase scenes through the crowded streets of Waterdeep, Halle and Livia watched as the succubus faded away into the ethereal plane once they caught up to her. Titus however managed to catch the priest when he cast a Dispel Magic upon him to break the demon's mind control, and Malen stopped to frantically beg forgiveness. Titus calmed him down. Malen explained he was under her spell since meeting her at a tavern in the Fieldward called The Devil's Delight . Titus thanked him and told him they would talk more when he returned. He then caught up to the dejected Halle and Livia, who were clearing up what happened with the guards they ran into. The three figured the succubus would have returned to that tavern, so they headed there next. While across the street from the small tavern, they watched as another Order of the Gauntlet member, a knight named Garrick , entered the tavern. He was recognized as one they already knew was being corrupted by the succubus. They approached and entered the tavern to try and scope it out, but when they heard the sounds of ritual casting coming from a back room they dropped all pretense and proceeded to try and stop it. The patrons in the tavern were under the succubus' sway and attacked, guarding her. Garrick joined them as well, and a fierce melee broke out. Halle reached the succubus but couldn't stop her from completing her ritual upon Dawnbringer. The celestial runes inscribed all around the weapon glowed red-hot and evaporated off, leaving the weapon intact and unsealed. When the succubus grasped it, she exulted in the power she felt from it. " No wonder Volmer wanted this back so badly! " Armed with the deadly weapon, the succubus joined the fray, but even with her newfound power she was nearly overwhelmed by Halle, Titus, and Livia. She fled to the ethereal plane to escape, and left her corrupted guards behind to die for her. Garrick broke from her control and joined the three of them in this fight. The guards fought to their death, refusing to give up and knowing their souls were already committed to Avernus . Once the fight was over and it was clear the succubus wasn't coming back, Titus, Halle, and Livia realized that well more than an hour had passed. Titus told Garrick he would be back to follow up on what happened, and Garrick agreed to look forward to his return, when they could clear this all up. Without waiting another moment the three of them booked out of the tavern and sprinted to the North Gate, hoping that Naivara and the others had been able to keep Elia from leaving without them...
