5:32pm Things start after the adventurers had run out of the cavern
where the forge of spells and Mormesk the wraith are, passing through the
poisonous fungi cavern they had burned a pass through with flaming sphere
spell. Mormesk was left to deal with the three remaining bugbears himself. The adventurers decide to make their way back towards where they
last left Sildar Hallwinter the fighter and Gundren Rockseeker the dwarf.
Sildar spots them first and comes says, “I see you are all back and still in
one piece”. Gundren says, “Any sign of my brother, Nundro?” Marcuria says, “For now yeah, but it's not over. We found
Nundro. Looks like a couple of drow got to him. He's alive for now,
but....spiders. Real big ones..." From the water cavern with the fishy smell and the mussel based
sand, the party goes up the stairs back to the area where they first
encountered the invisible Nezznar and his pet spiders: Six
cracked marble pillars line the walls of this hall, at the north end of which
stands a nine-foot-tall statue of a dwarf seated on a throne, a mighty stone
warhammer across his lap. Large emeralds gleam in the statue’s eyes. The
dust and debris covering the floor has been swept to one side, and a campsite
of sorts now spreads in front of the statue. Half a dozen bedrolls and packs
are neatly arranged around a rough-built fire pit. A wooden table stands on the
west side of the room between two pillars. Rolo tries to message spell Nundro but there is no response in
this area at all from him. Rolo goes to the table to see maps of the Wave Echo cavern here
and a sack which contained 190 electrum pieces, 130 gold pieces, 15 platinum
pieces, nine small gemstones worth 10 gp each and a dwarven ale mug made of
hammered electrum worth 100 gp. Rolo notes the passage off the east wall and goes to inform the
party of this. Meanwhile, Marcuria and Roqar made their way back around to the
spell forge area. Murcuria picks up and tossed some rocks into the room and
nothing reacts, as there is nothing inside. Roqar then looks to see if the last
three bugbears met their demise but does not see 3 addition bodies, so perhaps
they ran off. On the way back to the temple area area, a door off the middle
passage of the smelter room that goes west is looked at. Marcuria tries to open
it with a crowbar after first failing to simply open it but even after rolling
a 19 on a strength check, could not do so, (needed a 20!). They then go to the temple area and meet up with Rolo and
proceed down the passage on the east wall, which goes 20 feet to a set of
stairs going down. There is a door on the north wall about 17 feet in. Marcuria then checks for a trap rolling a 13 for thieves tools
and none was found. The door is locked so she gets the thieves tools to try and
pick it open, rolling a 19, she does so! Dusty
draperies adorn the walls of this room, which also contains a bed and brazier.
A badly disheveled dwarf lies bound and unconscious on the cold stone floor. Avery exclaims, “Nundro!” but there is no response from the
dwarf on the floor. Marcura tells the party to hold on, that it might be a
trap, Rogar agrees. Rolo does not get a sense of very strong magic here like he does
in the spell forge area, so he casts the detect magic as a ritual, which takes
10 minutes and then scopes the room but no magical aura’s are seen. Rogar, carefully makes her way into the room and toward the
dwarf and it appears to be Nundro. She picks him up and carries him out. Marcuria says, “… Tch, Roqar, I swear….” Roqar shrugs and gives
her a smirk. Roqar lays him down on the floor and closes the door. Avery says, “Gundren I think we found him, I think we found
Nundro.” Juan, casts the Cure Wounds spell upon Nundro healing back 6 hit
points. Nundro comes back to consciousness , glances around and moans a bit
from the pains of being beaten. Marcuria says, “Easy there. Easy… you’re gonna live”. Nundro
says, “uhhh, uhmmm, who are you folks? Gundren is that you?” Gundrea says, “Yes, it is me Nundro, looks like they beat you up
pretty bad.” Marcuria introduces herself to Nundro and tells everyone even
though she’d love to chit chat , they need to get out of the cave if they still
can, if Nundro can stand up and walk. Nundro tries to sit up, groaning in the process, “Yea, I think I
can get moving, just give me a moment.” He gets up and walks around a bit.
Roqar offer him some rations, Nundro thanks her. Back in the temple room Gundren notes that the statue is of the dwarven
god of mining, Dumathoin. Marcuria, offers Nundro a vial of dreamlily to help with the
pains. Nundro thanks her saying his head hurts like hell and gulps it down. Nundro says, “Whew, it’s like the pains are gone for sure now.
This is strong stuff.” They make their way back to the water cavern: A
still pool fills much of this cavern. The water is dark, revealing little of
what might lie within. The shore of the pool consists of a thin layer of broken
shells from strange, pale mussels, and a fishy odor hangs in the air. A
passage leads south from this area, and a set of steps climbs up to the east. A
sluggish stream flows out of the cave to the northeast. As they continue on and go past the passage area where the ochre
jelly was spotted, Marcuria asks, “Nundro… your other brother (Tharden)… what got
him, if I might ask?”, glancing over at the dead dwarf by the supplies as they
reached the entrance cavern. Nundro says, “Oh, he put up a fight and got himself clobbered,
poor fellow.” Marcuria says, “By who? Was it the ghouls? Or… Or the Drow and their wonderful friends?...” Nundro says, “No, no, not ghouls, it was a bugbear he wounded,
who retaliated.” Rolo says, “No friends of mine.” Marcuria says, "Not
you, Rolo. The other ones......a bugbear....understandable. I think Mormesk
wiped most of them out, so there's a good chance whoever got him is enjoying a
nice nap in the Negative Planes." Marcuria says, “…Sorry, Nundro. At least he died fighting… come
on. We’re almost out of here.” On the way out it is noted by Marcuria that there are fresh
tracks here, some are humanoid, others look like they could be from the
spiders. Just in case there is a surprise attack when they step outside
Avery start singing and playing some Bardic Inspiration, which gives gives
Marcuria and Roqar an extra 1d6 on checks, attacks or saving throws. Roqar, creeps outside first but spots nothing unusual and there
is no attack upon her. They all then cautiously head to a nearby patch of
woods. They hike it back to Phandalin, with nothing threatening encountering
them along the way back. Once there they crash at Roqar’s house, dropping off their
supplies and finds there then head to see Sister Garaele, a cleric of the
goddess of luck, Tymora. Marcuria heads for the Stonehill Inn instead, as religion and
temples are not her forte. Sister Garaele inquires about if they found the mine and the
other two Rockseeker brothers and Roqar fills her in with the deal then ask if
she has some holy water to use upon Mormesk the wraith, in the hope it helps to
destroy him. Sister Garaele, offers prayers to the dead Thurden Rockseer and
tells Roqar she does indeed have some holy water they can use. She gives Roqar
two vials. Roqar says, “Most kind of you, my Lady. May fortune smile on
you.”
Sister Garaele says, “And may the good Lady smile upon you as well.”
Everyone now heads over to the Stonehill Inn and orders meals
and or drinks.
