Earlier today, an error within Roll20 led to the entire characters archive being deleted from the Savage Frontier game. With the exception of a handful of character sheets that I was able to restore, the vast majority of character sheets were lost. I have been in contact with Roll20's admin and tech support team all afternoon attempting to get the lost content restored, but their first attempt has failed. They have since escalated the issue to their dev team, but cannot give an accurate estimate on timing or on whether or not a restoration will be possible. As much as I hate to say it, I fear we may have to rebuild our characters from scratch. I understand that this is frustrating and less than ideal, but I hope that you can appreciate this is an incredibly frustrating situation and that we're all in it together. Working together with Soap, I've come up with a reroll strategy that I hope will make this as painless as possible so that we can get right back into adventuring. Character Sheets I have manually recreated and assigned every single character sheet I could remember. If you do not see a character sheet for one of your characters, please let me know and I will have one created and assigned ASAP. If you did not yet have a token on the front page and had not yet embarked on an adventure, I may have inadvertently missed you. Rolling Ability Scores I understand that many of you may remember your ability scores, but I appreciate that the vast majority of you may not. In the interests of fairness, I'm going to suggest one of two options for recreating your characters: For each character, you may choose to opt for the following standard array or reroll as per the Character Creation rules . Standard Array : 16/14/13/12/12/8 For those of you who opted to roll 'down the line' in order to get a feat, your roll will still be reflected on Discord, so you are free to tag me in a reply to that roll and I will verify it. Multiple Characters If you had multiple characters, you are welcome to roll one set of stats for each of your characters before deciding which character gets which set of rolls. This should allow you to recreate your favorite character, as you can ensure they have the best of your 2, 3, 4, or 5 rolls. Experience Obviously, all of you were on different levels of experience. Some of you may even remember your exact level of experience. However, in the interests of fairness, the easiest solution will be to assign each character a flat amount of experience dependent on their level as below: Level 1 (Never Played): 0. Level 1: 225 xp Level 2: 675 xp Level 3: 2,025 xp Level 4: 4,875 xp Level 5: 6,785 xp I know of a handful of level four characters who were closer to level five than the above. If you believe this is true of you, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you. Gold All characters will receive their usual starting equipment (or gold) as well as an additional amount equal to the amount shown below. I understand some of you may have had more or less than this, but given I do not have an accurate record of this, the fairest way would be a fresh start. Level 1: 150 gp Level 2: 300 gp Level 3: 450 gp Level 4: 600 gp Level 5: 750 gp These amounts do not stack. A level 5 has 750 gp + their starting equipment and gold. Equipment For most of you, your starting equipment + any purchases you wish to make with the above gold should get you back to where you were. If you had made purchases in the March purchases thread or the Mounts thread, these are obviously recorded and you can safely add them to your inventory. You do not deduct gold for these purchases. Magic items that had handouts can still be accessed, as handouts were not affected by the database error. I understand many of you will have picked up unique items of a non-magical nature along the way. If this is the case, please PM me and I'll do my best to accommodate you. I have a pretty good memory of what people had unique items, so this should not be difficult to verify. Unique Spells/Features Some of you have learned unique spells or unlocked unique features during the game. Off the top of my head, these include Sabrina's dragon's tail attack, the moon cantrip on several characters, Bruisetooth's Wisdom/Charisma change, Furious' nightmares, and Uklah's ability to use healer's kits as a bonus action. If you have any of the above (or another unique feature I have failed to list), please let me know and we can get these added. As above, I have a good memory, so it should not be hard for me to verify this. An Apology All of the above sucks. I know. I have spent my Sunday afternoon and evening dealing with a power outrage and trying to resolve this using Roll20 on my phone. You all know how unpleasant that is. Even so, I know that you're all attached to your characters and that having to rebuild them sucks. I will do everything I can to ensure that this sucks as little as humanly possible, and I believe the above rules will benefit more characters than they disadvantage. It may be that in a few days Roll20 manages to fix things and this will all be for naught, but I don't want to rely on that. If it does happen, you'll be free to 'merge' your two character sheets, taking whichever one had the most XP and the best stats, and keeping the combined inventory of both (within reason). But, in the event it doesn't get restored, I wanted to give everybody time to get themselves rerolled and recreated in time for Pushing Up Daise, Dirty Deeds, Mouth of Doom, and The Fog Monster. Any Questions? Please shoot me any questions you might have via PM, rather than posting here.
