Pathfinder Roll20 1st ed Character Sheet slow loading

So as my players character sheets continue to advance in level it becomes increasingly slower for them to load. Especially the Conditions and Buffs window which for a couple of my players take an extraordinarily long time.  What causes this lagg in loading? Is it the amount of Buffs they have on their sheet or the number of spells in their inventory? Something else?

Hi Ken, which PF sheet?  Official or community?  Regardless, anytime you add additional attributes to a sheet, additional attacks, spells, abilities, buffs, conditions, etc. it will begin to require more memory.  Spells often require many attributes per spell added to the sheet, so it's frequently advised to limit the number of spells you keep on a given character. I assume having a large number of active buffs/conditions would have a similar effect.  What happens if you deactivate all buffs/conditions?  Any change?  Browsers can have issues after certain updates (in the browser version as well as roll20).  Always try swapping between FF and Chrome to see if there is any difference.  Do this even if you had a poor experience in the past with a particular browser version.  Things change all the time.  BTW: FF sometimes exhibits slow performance with roll20 sheets with it's  auto-fill enabled.  IME, I've had a similar issue with Chrome and the Lastpass pw manager, so extensions can also cause conflicts.
It's the Pathfinder character sheet that comes standard in Roll20. I assume Official if that's what you mean. I know having more buffs listed in the sheet slows it down in general whether or not it's selected. However, Some are wizards and Rangers that have a large repertoire of spells on their Spell Tab. Does simply HAVING spells listed on your character sheet slow down your sheet or do they have to have macros in them?

A sheet usually starts off with x number of non-repeating attributes (the ones you can see in the attributes tab of the character journal or the token attribute link list).  Repeating sections of a sheet (ie attacks, spells, abilities, equipment, etc.) while they do not show up in the attribute tab or token link list, will add another x amount of attributes every time you add a new row.  Attribute data uses memory, and repeating sections add additional attributes exponentially. ;-(
So in order to reduce the lag you have to delete a lot of the spells on his spell sheet and/or equipment each character has

Interesting, so what other line items have high attributes? There’s a section for Feats and Traits/ abilities. I have a feeling it’s due to the shear number of spells they have on their sheet.

You can simply look at the number of input fields per repeating section to get an idea of it's impact.  Not sure how to test, but I would think that the size(the amount of data) stored for an attribute might also negatively impact a sheet. A single textarea description field holding War and Peace, "might" have more of an impact than 10 text-based attributes that contain a single word...
I think I fully understand now. So because a spell entry has 25 different inputs that populate one spell it has a greater impact than equipment with only 4 different inputs per equipment item. Thanks for the explanation. I deleted and moved a lot of spells to the Notes section and it seems to free up a lot of the aforementioned lagg.

Drag and drop of spells have been the bane of some of the larger sheets because it makes it soooo easy to just drag over every possible spell you may ever want.  Sadly, this can really slow things down as you have noticed.  Best practice is to keep your most used spells on the sheet and simply bring others over or remove them as needed.  It's a pain, but all things being equal, you should have better performance. Good luck.

Another thing to consider is that each one of the spell entries interacts with sheetworkers to set the spell save DC (and possibly other things I'm not thinking of at the moment).  If that triggers on "sheet:opened", having an entire divine spell list in there will probably contribute to lag on opening.
