Whatever your reason for being up this late at night might just have been worth it. You hear the town guards frantically gathering towards the center of town. Rushing out into the darkened streets, you can see members of the Hope militia gathered around a body. Not just any body. The body of an adventurer sprawled out as if they had been dropped from the sky, their body covered in deep cuts, claw marks, bite marks, and multiple other injuries vying for the honor of having been the cause of death. Clutched in the dead man's hands is a crumpled note. The note reads: Garrett, At long last, I have found a buyer for my family's accursed manor. Though it pains me to sell the family's ancestral home, my finances are precarious and I cannot foresee a time where I would ever feel comfortable resting beneath that roof. It's for the best. With that in mind, I may have neglected to inform the buyer of all the... pecularities that abound within the house. It was hard enough selling a dilapidated old manor so far from civilization without divulging the specifics of its hauntings and various other quirks. I am asking you, old friend, to assemble a team and see to the cleansing of the property. I know not how long this will take, but do not doubt that it is a perilous thing I ask of you. With that in mind, you may present this note to David the Gnome in Hope in order to secure additional finances to assemble your team. He will arrange for the payment of 1,000 gold pieces to you for each floor of the manor you're able to successfully cleanse. I trust you to be honest in this, of course, but this letter is also enchanted to ensure none of your less savory hires try to abscond with the money. When a level is cleared, you will see a bloody watermark appear at the foot of this letter. Only then will David release a payment to you. Enclosed is the key to the servant's entrance. I suggest you start there and then work your way through the place level by level. Only then will my buyer take possession of the home, as I cannot afford the bad publicity of being the man who accidentally got a future king killed. Best of luck, old friend! In the unlikely event of someone dropping out I'd like to put interest in for my Circle of the moon druid.

I'm unavailable on Thursday night :(
Ayla D. said: I'm unavailable on Thursday night :( Ah, bugger! Just as a future option, the house doesn't belong to any one group, so you're welcome to arrange an expedition of your own (perhaps to a different wing) whenever you like!
Awesome I'll keep it in mind

Furious' Eighth Letter to Oak *Furious sponsors an Orphanage in Darromar where he spent a number of years as an Orphan himself. Oak is a youngster at the Orphanage that he has a close relationship with. He has not talked about this with the group.* [8] Dear Oak, We are back from that haunted, infested mansion... I am sad to report that some of our party did not make it. Such are the vagaries of fate and bothering large creatures sleeping in chimneys. I feel tired, forlorn... and lonely. The adventure continued well enough after the events described in my last missive. We finished examining the great hall where we fought the last group of skeletons... finding some treasure and encountering a swarm of nasty creatures that we were able to dispatch. We then took refuge in a small bedroom to the north. Again we were attached by some insects... again they were put down... then a zombie girl appeared under the bed and a very corpulent monstrosity came calling for her... they did not seem to like each other overmuch, or us for that matter... a fight ensued and again we were victorious and finally able to take a brief rest.  Thus refreshed, we reentered the great hall and pulled the hidden lever that Elphim and Hogo had found near that ridiculously oversized halberd. We were transported "below" to a narrow passageway where Hogo could barely move and all save the halfings felt oppressively cramped. We fought some rats, oiled up Hogo and found our way out through a hole in the ceiling.  We made our way to what turned out to be the second floor. Here we had some good battles with some wraiths and some nasty oozes. The wraiths took our strength and the oozes were very destructive to Borin and Plank's armor... but they were dispatched and more treasure was found. Another door led to a hallway full of werewolves... many werewolves... Feeling depleted and likely outmatched we decided on strategic retreat (out the window in the adjoining room). Never let pride come between you and a werewolf's bite, Oak. We should've rested then... but decided to push on for one last room... following the hints of the spectral butler and the smell of fresh bread we entered a kitchen off the halfway that led from the southwest corner of the great hall. It was here that we found noises, rustling but no immediate threat... but our curiosity got the better of us... perhaps our judgement was exhausted. I shall make no excuses... hindsight 20/20 and all that. The vicious acid spewing insect that emerged from the chimney there was too much for our weakened party... out of spells and low on health... valiant Borin found himself on the front line and Hogo made a large target for the creature. Elphim fell as well, having been close to the wood she wished to set alight to burn the creature. Perhaps as a child she burned ants with a magnifying glass... but this was no ant. We could have all died... running was the smart thing but I am certainly not proud of it. I tried to give Hogo a fighting chance to survive but I could not move him... in retrospect I should've tried to move Borin but my strength had been quite sapped by the wraiths upstairs and I fear I could not lift or drag his bulk... now he is dead. The hol(e)y man is dead, the sweet half-oni is dead... the curious Elphim is dead. We will mourn them all and learn from our mistakes. Remember that there is no benefit to bugging large arthropods, and study hard, young man. Sincerely, Furious
Borin's Final(?) Test Ah’ve been tested and ah reckon ah’ve failed.   Oor adventure at Tegel Manor came to an inevitable conclusion if ah factor in my trials and tribulations. Ah only wish it hadnae cost as much as it did… After salvaging all manner o’loot, we decided to check oot a room to the North. Trying ter take a rest, we were soon disturbed by a knocking at the door as some sort of undead ogre creature tried to get at us. While Plank , Hogo , and myself tried ter hold tha door, it seems Trym and Elphim got into some shenanigans under the bed with a spirit of some sort. Vesrot and Furious were quick to help oot and we soon managed to handle both problems! A wee rest wasnae enough to quench oor curiosity it seems. Heading back to tha room, we found a pile of bodies tha I cannae believe we didnae see before. Attempting ter investigate the carnage led to several undead moving… we helped put them at ease but there is clearly evil permeating this whole site.   Returning to the western wall, oor haste led to us opening a portal of sorts and transporting into some sort of basement tunnel system. Poor ol’ Hogo was squashed and could barely move - luckily Plank and Trym seemed capable of dealing with some rats that took an interest and we were able to move though the tunnel until we managed to find our way up out of the tunnels again. Seemingly on tha first floor, we investigated a room with a mirror that seemed to invoke wicked Shadows to attack and they sapped the strength of those they struck. We barely had time to put them down before we were opening another door which prompted oozes to through themselves at us. With Plank and meslef taking horrible blows that damaged oor armour, we finally managed to put them doon as the team hid in the previous room and threw attacks from afar as their attention was on us. Exhaustion threatened to take me and ma breathin rattled in ma chest - is it possible we had succumbed ter the greed that treasure brings? Pushing on and on against such evil… Ma thoughts were ripped from ma mind as we opened another door and saw many werewolves streamin doon tha corrider. The sheer volume and threats from them seemed to force some sense and we fled oot tha window… only ter fall to the ground ootside. And that should have been enough for us ter head home… but in our foolish pride, we decided to try and find the servants quarters again. Pushing into the kitchen area, we found a creature trapped in a pot and a chimney tha seemed ter house a beast. Again, we should have heeded the signs but curiosity got the best of Elphim as she poked too far and awoke some sorta insect. Ah remember acid spewing forth ter hit me… Gods ah’ve no felt pain like it. As ah fell inta unconsciousness Ah saw Elphim and Hogo also fall to the beast as Furious ran… then blackness Ah thought writing this doon would help but Ah cannae lie, ma mind still reels at tha horror. But Ah’m returned. The Morning Lord seems to have use for me still. It seems brave Plank (and others) have recovered part of ma body and brought it back ter Hope where good ol’ Brother Cadfael has called on the magics of Lathander and returned ma essence to a new form. Ah dinnae ken what purpose but this Goliath form seems strong and tha new cold that swirls doesnae bother me like it would have once.   Ma mind is still confused. Clearly Ah’m still being tested but Ah think Ah need ter head back oot ter the wilds. It seems some fools are heading back to the Forge, mebbe Ah should tag along ter see if Ah can find answers there…?
