Kismet, Lady Paper, Constable, and (NPC) Iktomi are at the inn.   The now awakened Thomas Paine is confused and demands to know where he is and who ‘you people’ are. Kismet begins to tell him the truth and uses her mental powers on him. He freaks! He calls them witches and tries to flee. Lady Paper entangles him her pages, but all the paper she has is her costume, leaving him bound and her naked. He is bound, but not silenced, nor blindfolded. Paine continues to scream for help! Constable, from his room, hears the commotion and moves to see what is going on. The hall is beginning to fill with the innkeeper and other guests who are being attracted by the commotion. In the doorway Constable sees Kismet and (the undressed) Lady Paper and shouts, “I know not who you villains are but unhand that man!” Kismet is preparing to teleport Paine and herself out of the room while Lady Paper tries to reason with the frantic Paine. Constable comes in and prevents Kismet from teleporting away with Paine causing her to teleport with Lady Paper instead. They arrive bloody from the blind teleport at the print shop. Lady Paper uses the paper there to recreate her costume and get dressed. Paladin and Bear head to the inn to see what is going on. Constable has (slightly) reassured Paine by saying that he is with the revolution and is here to help protect him. Constable Clay, four red coats, the innkeeper, and a priest arrive. Bear and Paladin are also in earshot to hear what is going on. The innkeeper tells Clay that (Paine) was screaming he was attacked by witches. Clay knows ‘Adam’ and his party from their report of being robbed by revolutionaries as they approached town. He also says that Paine is not unknown to him. He orders ‘Adam’ and Paine to be taken to his office for questioning, he wants the rest of Adams Mennonite friends found and questioned, and he wants Paine’s print shop searched, ‘leave no board un-turned’. That is when Paladin and Bear attack. Bear kills the first Redcoat with a single punch that knocked him through a wall, a dozen feet back, and into Thomas Paine. Knocking him out but not doing serious damage. The rest of the Redcoats, including Constable Clay, are seriously injured. Clay has 2 body, his remaining three men are at 3, 1, and 1, respectively. Paladin shows his Defenders of the Cross token to the priest who seems to recognize what it is. The priest shakes his head and silently returns to his church. Before any more Redcoats arrive they pile the dead and wounded, along with the innkeeper, in the room where the witches (Kismet and Lady Paper) were staying. They then go back to the print shop where they have Lady Paper correct the pro-communist, pro-socialist, rubbish. Knowing that the Redcoats are coming they withdraw to Ben Franklin’s lab in the basement of Franklin Stoves. Here they come up with an ambitious plan to have Kismet use her Mind Control to force the redcoats to remember that they were attacked by revolutionaries who had a trained bear with them. They track down the wounded soldiers and ‘fix’ their ability to recall the truth. They now need to find Constable Clay. While searching for him they are met by two Demoreans who offer them a chance to work for the Demorean cause. They claim they have no designed on this world’s timeline, but are making small changes here that will echo in the timeline they are interested in. Paladin wants to know why they do what they do. Simple, we are perfect and we are going to give the gift of perfections to other races, whether they want it or not. They want the PCs to join them because they can bring cargo with them, small amounts truly but more than the demoreans can with their psionic projection power. When Paladin says no, the demoreans attack. Kismet and Paladin dispatch them quickly but not before they sound the alarm. By the time the guards arrive there is nothing for them to find so they go back about their business. Later, Kismet and Paladin return and force Constable Clay to remember what he is told to remember. They then return to Franklin Stoves and regroup.   5/4/1776 Saturday 700 AM They have Paine’s assistants help pass out Pamphlets that support his previous works, such as Common Sense, as history proclaims. And still the quest for the time machine manual continues!   End Session
