Modules with tokens with nameplates.

So, i bought my first module on Roll20, Dead in Thay, published by Wizards of the Coast, and found that, in addition to many tokens having no art, the tokens all had nameplates showing up. While it is handy for me to know at a glance what these things are, i do not consider it immersive for players to see "Reduced-Threat Hezrou," or, indeed, any text at all there. Certainly not the names of strangers. I've looked about a bit and seen that some other Wizards modules, at the least, have this problem. I'd love to run a module to make things easier on myself in this digital space, but i can't see myself paying for something (again) which i have to do so much busywork changing all the tokens for. My questions, then, are these: 1) Is there an easy way to remove all the nameplates from tokens, or to prevent players from seeing them? 2) Are there (in your opinion, kind reader) good modules for D&D 5E (from any publisher, though Wizards ones are of more interest to me) which do not do this? Cheers.

Actually, you can see them as GM, but unless you have changed something about the defaults, they should be invisible to players. You can check with the pop-up (that Roll20 buried in last November's update, making it far less intuitive or useful—sorry Roll20, but this is the case).: You can always verify for dead sure what the player experience is through the use of a  Dummy Account .
Interesting. That is indeed... less than intuitive. I had fiddled with default tokens and test games and using player views, but apparently missed that one oh! so clear thing in the minim of coherently-presented information. Thank you very much. Time to test that.

That's right, what keith said, but ALSO there has been a bug around Default Game Settings, Modules, Nameplates, and Module Patches. I've personally experienced it with Rime Of The Frostmaiden (all of the Nameplates are ON and Visible to the Players via SEE permission, not just EDIT as the usual default usually is). We're not entirely sure if those Nameplates Visibility (ALL/See) was turned ON by the Default Game Settings, by the Module in the first place, or by a subsequent ROTM Patch that was ran/installed. So yes if it's not set like Keith demonstrated, then yes there could be a settings issue.

RotFM did have that issue, which was handled in an earlier patch. Not going to open the can of worms of RotFM patches though. :)

Was that ever resolved? The GM that I know is sitting permanantly on Un-Patched because of the fear of Patch 1.4 and 1.5.  (Aaaand it has all Nameplates showing including Monsters and NPC, unless the GM fix them one-by-one). These worms are chewy
