Charactermancer Not Working

Hello. After the latest update yesterday, I can't get Charactermancer to work properly. When I use the Level + feature, the screen that comes up shows no stats, just dashes where all of my base stats should be. I also see 4 iterations of the "HP/Class Features/Subclass Features" button set but no options are available in any of them. I am unable to increase any stats or learn any new spells, and the Charactermancer just takes me straight to the confirmation page that looks like I'm about to create a blank character. Then I cancel the Charactermancer. Is anyone else having this issue?

Just was trying to use the charactermancer (D&D 5E) to make a fresh PC for one of my players and it's only making NPCs. I when through 3 times with the same result. NPC block stats at finalization.

Hi, I am experiencing exactly the same symptoms with Charactermancer as Richie G, but only for 2 of 5 characters. After clicking the first Next button, all stats are just dashes, no existing level information loads and there are 4 repetitions of the HP/Class/Subclass features block. All 5 character sheets were imported into Storm Kings Thunder module from Lost Mines of Phandelver module using the Vault. However, I've checked the original character sheets in LMoP and exactly the same issue for the same characters occurs. The Rogue, Fighter and one Wizard are fine, but the Cleric and other Wizard get the Charactermancer issue described. All 5 characters have used Charactermancer to level up over the past year+.

I've tried both Firefox v87.0 (64-bit) & Chrome 89.0.4389.114 (Official Build) (64-bit) and the issue is consistently occurring.

I am also experiencing the exact same issue.  I have tried both Firefox and Chrome, and have tried cancelling and restarting the Charactermancer several times.

Hey everyone,

Sorry for not seeing this sooner, and thanks to Guevin for drawing my attention to this thread.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties with the Charactermancer. Could I ask that any of you who are still experiencing problems, directly PM me with a link to their game's homepage. This will allow me to investigate and diagnose the issues, and put them before the correct set of eyes.

Many thanks!

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to chime in here that I've been able to reproduce and identify the issue; it seems to only apply to games that are not using the Player's Handbook. Obviously, this is not ideal. I'm going to work on it this afternoon (PST) but a fix probably won't be viable before the weekend.

I'm sorry if this affects your games, I promise that this is my number one priority right now!

That said, if that doesn't seem to be the case for you and your game, please reply here and we can try and diagnose this issue for you!

Hey Nic - I am experiencing this as well with a player in my game. Is there any update on the fix for this you mentioned was in process?

Hi Brad,

Unfortunately, we do not have a fix yet. I mistakenly believed I had identified the issue in question (missing Player's Handbook), but it turned out that this was a confounding variable.

Obviously, it's super important to fix this, and fix it well, so we're taking our time diagnosing and patching the issue. We want to avoid causing further issues down the line. Once I have a time-frame for this fix, I will report back.

In the meantime, I can only apologize, and if there's some way that I can help alleviate the symptoms of this issue, please let me know.

Hello!

Wanted to drop a quick update: we believe we have identified the root cause of this issue and a fix for this is currently undergoing QA. We hope to have this fix pushed before the weekend.

Thank you all for your patience, I will come and update this thread again when there is more news.

Thanks for the update Nic. I worked around it for 2 of my groups characters that needed to level up last week, by creating the characters from scratch and levelling them up via the Charactermancer to lvl6. However, the Fighter leveled up a few days ago and suddenly experienced the same issues even though it hadn't had the symptoms when I originally posted. Looking forward to the patch fixing this permanently, thanks :)

Hi Nic. We have the same issue with a player in my game.

Confirmed this bug. I've replicated across every PC and other player in every game I am in.

Hello everyone,

As some of you may have noticed, this patch was not released on Friday as we thought. As we were in the preliminary stages of making the change, Roll20 suffered some downtime. It was decided at that point that we weren't going to make any changes that might introduce any more complications to people's weekends!

However, we have now made this change, and it seems to have resolved the problems we'd been seeing with sheets in the wild. However, due to the nature of the problem, it might be that there are residual issues affecting some 5e character sheets.

If you are still having problems with this bug, please PM me with a link to your campaign lobby so I can start troubleshooting.

Thank you again, for your patience.

Happy gaming!

Hey all, thanks for your diligence. My group is also having issues with Charactermancer not loading all their stats. Mostly using Chrome or Firefox, with updated browsers. As the DM their Charactermancers show up fine.

Hi Champ,

Are you able to check that your compendium sharing is enabled?

If it is, and still doesn't work, let me know, and I'll start a new ticket to work out what your issue is.

I have recently come across this same issue. I'm currently running a game with the Lost Mines of Phandelver module and every character sheet is coming across this issue after trying to level up. Each character stat only shows dashes in the charactermancer. When I made a new character, the charactermancer seemed to work fine, but I would rather not have to remake every character from the beginning since we are using the presets.

I am also having trouble with charactermancer that prevents me from leveling up with artificer.

Hi Phillip and Yivvy, would you both be able to send me a private message with a link to your affected game?

I am also experiencing the same issues with my phandelver game, the 5 pre generated characters cannot level up with charactermancer, whereas a newly generated character can.

Just ran into it with one player in my game today. Will send you a message with a link to the game. Character affected is Amelia, and copies of the character are also affected.

My friend is also having this issue in my campaign and a different campaign that I'm in with him.
