14th of Marpenoth, 1492 (Highsun) We return to the party being ambushed by a couple Anchorites of Talos , to which Ivaran turns to his newfound friends and he tells them to go find their sister, he'll handle these guys. With that he steps forward at the ready as he's flanked by them. The party watches as he springs into action and he quickly starts to deal damage. Meanwhile inside Naisys is surrounded by these vine creatures called Vine Blights that start to wrap their arms around her, catching her in place and squeezing her. Alatar rushes up to the door, climbing a wall of vines that covered the front steps before he quickly kicks open the door to see Naisys become entangled by the creatures. Naisys looks to him before she turns into mist, and she teleports closer to him so she's between Alatar and the vine blights. Seeing his zombies and Ivaran doing well enough on their own, Briar moves so he can see into the home through the doorway, seeing the viney mess his siblings are in. He casts a quick fireball into the foyer, lighting everything on fire and quickly dispatching the vine blights. The room quickly was filled with fire as the vines that littered the place caught from the fireball. All the noise the party has caused caught the attention of the rest of the dangers in the old home, as Orcs and Twig Blights start storming into the small flaming room. Most of the Twig Blights held back upon seeing the flames, only a couple braving the fires to rush through and flank from the other side of the party, while orcs rush in and attempt to hit the group hard from the front. Ivaran after seeing the anchorites were handled outside rushes in and disappears for a split moment, sneaking past everyone to surprise attack the orcs from the stairs, knocking one across the head. Briar quickly casts another fireball into the room, killing off the rest of the offending forces that attempted to rush them. Once these forces were dealt with, the party continued on into the old home, getting a better look at this malignant tree growing out of an old stone well. Naisys getting a bad feeling about this tree starts attacking it and lighting it on fire, causing the tree to groan and shake slightly. They also heard nearby incantations being called out in a nearby room. Despite all the noise, the being within chose to ignore them and continue its chanting. So, quietly as they could, they snuck into the room to find an anchorite in ritualistic garb eating the entrails of an opossum. Kia and Alatar sneak in with Briar, trying their best to discern what this half-orc was saying. Kia picks up on a few keywords that caused her to pull out her lance and stop him in the middle of the chanting via bashing the side of his scull with her lance . The Anchorite went down and was pinned by Kia, and she demanded what his plans were since she heard him say something about their friend Falcon . The Anchorite didn't give them much to go on, just that thorn in their side was stopping too much of their progress, and that he will feel the wrath of Talos , and he will feel it very soon. Wanting more information they try to force him to talk, but the anchorite bit his tongue and he started to drown himself in his own blood. Kia saved off the death for as long as she could to try and get more out of him, but he slowly died without giving them much more. While this happened, Briar chose to look around the room, finding a Map pinned nearby and a note . Choosing to look into these items further later, he checked the anchorite after his siblings were done with him, finding nothing of use. Further exploring the house, they manage to find with the aid of detect magic a vial of Dust of Disappearance which Briar gave to Naisys, a Staff of Birdcalls , and a Cloak of Billowing with a small wooden locked chest. Unable to find a way to unlock this chest, the party decided to take it along with them as they explore the rest of the home, however upon turning around, they found that Alatar had disappeared, going to look for Naisys who'd slipped into the shadows as she was playing around with the fact she can disappear on her own with or without the dust. As he made his way through the house on his own, Alatar wandered into the now burned and ruined dining room. There, he spotted the glimmer of something in the burnt and destroyed remains of the once dining table, and within he finds a tarnished silver candelabrum. Excited with his find he attempts to wander further, finding his way back upstairs. Along the way up, the stairs broke under his foot, to which he quickly catches himself before falling into a trap he sees below him. Sighing softly he makes his way back up. Upon hearing this, the party made their way to the part of the house he was, where they all were suddenly ambushed by a bunch of fleshy stirges that was hanging out in the rafters above them. After a few of them take some bites, the party quickly dispatches the large swarm of these fleshy beings, ending with Briar blowing away most of them with thunderwave , knocking Ivaran back into the upstairs bathroom. At this point. the party slowly starts to heal each other up and explore the remaining of the manse, finding nothing more of interest, they make their way back outside to the front of the home, where Brair set the wooden chest down onto the ground, asking Kia to help break it open since it as magically locked. After a few tries, the party manages to break the box apart, finding an Immovable Rod inside. Briar quickly demonstrates the use of such an item, showing its ability to stay stationary in place on its own without any outside intervention until the button on its end is clicked. While Briar is explaining this, Naisys notices the trees nearby started to move. Session Pause 14th of Marpenoth, 1492 (Afternoon)
