It doesn't crash, it doesn't warn you, it just falls asleep without any warning often when in heavy use. Hitting the restart button for the api sandbox also is delayed and takes as much as minutes to actually happen when the sandbox is asleep like this. It makes hosting sessions with API function heavy features extremely taxing as the gameplay and flow of the session is on pause till your site catches up.
