Princes of the Apocalypse COMPLETE

Current Party level is 3 (new players will begin at level 3 too). Introductory sidequests have been completed, and main story is about to begin.

INTRO:

Called by the Elder Elemental Eye to serve, four corrupt prophets have risen from the depths of anonymity to claim mighty weapons with direct links to the power of the elemental princes. Each of these prophets has assembled a cadre of cultists and creatures to serve them in the construction of four elemental temples of lethal design. It is up to adventurers from heroic factions such as the Emerald Enclave and the Order of the Gauntlet to discover where the true power of each prophet lay, and dismantle it before it comes boiling up to obliterate the Realms.

Traverse through flood, fire, wind, and stone in this epic adventure from Wizards of the Coast, pitting your party against the elemental powers of the corrupt prophets. This module takes players from levels 1 through 15 on a multi-month journey that only the most cunning will survive

BEGINNING THE STORY:

The adventure begins when the characters arrive in the town of Red Larch, a small settlement on the western side of the Dessarin Valley. Strange rumors and ominous signs have the townsfolk concerned, including reports of bandit attacks on the roads, piracy on the Dessarin River, and monster sightings too close to town. But the mystery that has keen observers of the region most concerned is the disappearance of a delegation traveling overland from the city of Mirabar to Waterdeep. The delegation stopped in the tiny village of Beliard, where the members mentioned their intent to visit sacred dwarven sites before continuing on to Goldenfields. They were last seen at the west end of the Stone Bridge, turning south to proceed overland through the heart of the Sumber Hills. It has now been almost a month, and the delegation never showed up at Goldenfields or any other outpost.

GAMEPLAY:

We will use Roll20 for maps/character sheets/combat and discord for voice. Sessions will last between 3-4 hours, but I like to end at clear story checkpoints such as leveling up or boss death.

This campaign will be a long-term campaign and take the players from level 1-15. Parts of it will operate as a sandbox and other parts will be a bit more railroad. I like to keep the party moving at a good pace, but pace always vary for each party depending on play-style and what they find fun/interesting.

ABOUT ME:

I'm a 27 year old male living in Baltimore. I love D&D and all RPGs. I have played D&D since I was 13. The vast majority of my experience is with version 3.5 and 5e. I enjoy playing as a player nearly as much as a DM, and I have extensive experience with both. I have three homebrew worlds I have developed for years now, but I also love the published modules by WotC. I will mostly stick to the modules, but will sprinkle in some homebrew elements to the game in order to spice up the adventure. I am currently running a Tales from the Yawning Portal game and a homebrew monstrous adventure in addition to this game. I also run one-shots periodically on weekends.

One last sidenote: I love witty humor and puns so feel free to share your humor as it comes to you. Of course there will be serious situations, but life is too serious to not have some light-hearted fun while playing D&D.

NEW PLAYERS:

New Players are 100% welcome. Ideally the party is a mix of new players and veterans, but it definitely doesn't have to be. Also, all pronouns are welcome, even if you prefer not to have set pronouns or are unsure what pronouns you identify with.

PAY TO PLAY:

Pay to Play is used for several reasons:

  • It creates an investment in the players and prevents flaky groups. Constant drop-outs is a common issue on R20, but I hope to avoid it.
  • It creates an investment in the DM to provide the best possible gaming experience for the players. I maintain a pro subscription and have purchased several modules. However, I also put tons of time into my campaigns even the modules by adding additional maps and artwork, tidying up the dynamic lightning and fog of war, setting up fun music and sound effects for nearly every situation, and essentially all the bells and whistles R20 has to offer. The very small fee I charge justifies this great amount of time and is very appreciated.

First Session is completely free so that you can decide whether you enjoy the game, my DM style and the party.

WHAT TO EXPECT FOR YOUR MONEY:

  • A well constructed and thought out game world complete with a world map and many local maps.
  • Ample usage of the R20 features such as dynamic lighting, tokens, turnmarker, dungeon maps, etc. I really take pride in making the dungeon-crawling as immersive as an experience as possible.
  • An on-time and available DM. I will always be responsive and open to the players throughout the week, not just at game-time.
  • An extensive resource bank in the Discord channel.
  • Fun sessions with a collection of interesting and team-oriented players that are willing to invest themselves into the game.

WHEN REFUNDS ARE ISSUED:

  • DM cancels the session including emergencies or technological issues.
  • Player misses session but gave 24 hour notice to DM.
  • Player genuinely did not enjoy the game or has a personal reason for dropping out. Personal reason must be briefly explained to DM. I totally understand that life happens sometimes.

CHARACTER CREATION:

  • Starting at Level 1
  • Abilities will be Standard Array - 15 14 13 12 10 8. I really believe this creates the most balanced party composition.
  • Materials allowed: PHB, DMG, SCAG, Elemental Evil, Volo's, Xanathar's and Tome of Foes
  • Hit points above 1st level are determined by Average from PHB
  • Starting equipment determined by class and background
  • No evil alignments, this is a heroic campaign
