Afterlife takes place 6 years after the end of the world was supposed to arrive. For 3 days straight, werewolves, vampires, and other creatures waged war across the globe. The incident is dubbed The World Riot, by ordinary humans, and was attributed to a coordinated attack by several terrorist organizations.
When all was said and done, and the world continued spinning, the denizens of the World of Darkness returned to business as usual. Many were changed after the battle but none more than the Imbued. The Messengers who had given the Hunters their abilities became silent, the Edges that helped them fight their enemies became weak and erratic, and hunter-net, the lifeline between the Hunters, was closed by its founder; witness1.
Since then, no new Hunters had been imbued by the Messengers... Till now.
You saw something or heard something that made you aware of the darkness that hides in plain sight from the rest of the world. Whoever or whatever it was that showed you the truth, they set you on a path you can never look away from. What you do now will decide if you live in fear for the rest of your life or risk life and limb to protect humanity and those you hold dear.
NOTE: While the game takes place in the world of Hunter: The Reckoning, I've made some changes to emphasize how different things are for the recently imbued. I will give more detail at a later time.
