The Kingdom of Riferia was founded by the freed slaves of other nations. Accustomed to what it was like to live in a world without equality, Riferia was founded on a single principle: people of all shapes and sizes would be welcomed within their borders. While this philosophy brought with it some risks, it created one of the most colorful and diverse nations in the entire world, making Riferia a melting pot beyond compare. For decades, peace and prosperity spread throughout the land under King Ignatius, an Ifrit with a fiery temper when he needed it, but a kind heart for his citizens. Under his rule, and with an army consisting largely of Minotaurs and Centaurs, Riferia was a Kingdom that lived in peace.
But all great things come to an end. And so it was that, when King Ignatius passed away, he was forced to select an heir sooner than he would have liked. The King had multiple children born to him from his human wife. Many thought that he would have selected his daughter, Gloria, who had trained for years to take the throne. But, despite her vast knowledge and battle prowess, Ignatius was concerned that she was too ambitious and arrogant to properly rule a kingdom such as Riferia. And so, unexpectedly, the King selected his first-born son on his death bed to rule in his stead.
Now, that son is set to become King, and so he will need bodyguards. The day after Ignatius passed, the call was sent out for all of the tribes making up Riferia to send their most promising warriors to the capital to serve as the new King’s royal guards. Ignatius always wanted to see Riferia’s unique population properly represented within its military. However, each of these tribes also had an ulterior motive; the new King was a young and charming young man without a wife. And so, seeking to increase their influence, or at the very least prevent any other group from gaining more power, each of these tribes not only ended up sending some of their finest young soldiers...but they were all single girls too.
They ended up sending all women on the off chance that, perhaps, the young Prince would fall for them. While both the Prince and his guards still have much to learn, they will come to eventually be one of the most powerful fighting forces in the entire world. Provided of course that Gloria’s plans to take the throne for herself do not come to fruition…
