The Hunters, by their very nature, are men and women dedicated to the eradication of deadly monstrosities, nefarious and sinister sects, and dangerous criminals, and have existed long before the establishment of Byrgenwerth Academy. Once upon a time, they went by other names, under different flags, and within different regions across the face of the Old World, but those times have come and gone.
The Hunters of the First Workshop of Yharnam, under the tutelage of their master, Gherman, have kept the country safe for nearly a decade, without cause for concern, save for the occasional rogue sorcerer, enraged woodland creature, or non-human uprising in the eastern lands.
Moving by the cover of night, the Hunters of the First Workshop are a secret society, bending their knee to few within the realm, thanks to their exemption from a variety of local laws, but owe their allegiance to the Nobles of Cainhurst, due to their presence within their lands, and to the Scholars of Byrgenwerth, due to Gherman's specific friendship with Master Laurence, and the folk who attend the academy. Moving through moonlit streets and woodlands, the Hunters are pledged to protect the state and its folk from the threats of the Old World, whatever form they might take.
Many believe that monsters are just fairy tales, and stories told by warriors around dimly lit campfires, but Hunters know the truth in this world...
We will be running a homebrew campaign set in the decrepit, grim world of Bloodborne, handcrafted by both the Dungeon Master and the group as a whole. There are no heroes in this land, only people trying to eek out a modest existence amidst rotting fields and plagued woodlands, or treacherous barrens and horror-infested mountains. Amongst these folk are the Hunters of the Workshop, a group of vagabond swords-for-hire, mercenaries, and professional monster slayers dedicated to the protection of our lovely land, the Broken Shores.
Farmers and woodsmen claim corpses walk the local glades; that creatures unlike anything they've ever seen prowl the night, claiming swaths of land considered 'forbidden' for centuries. Fishmongers and sailors spin tales of horrors rising from the sea, riddled with wounds and parasites, yet indescribable in form and shape; that some things are better left unspoken, and some tales left untold. Freemen and surfs alike cling to candlelight come eve, when cutthroats and killers, deserters of the Midland Kingdoms and hardened marauders from the Great Loran Desert stalk the Old Dwarf Road, poaching a more 'dangerous game'.
Even if the dangers of the physical world seem trivial to a mighty swordsman, or talented sorcerer of forbidden crafts, not even the most durable of blades can protect one's mind from its own trappings. Forbidden knowledge and eldritch secrets lie in store for the unsuspecting adventurer, and worse yet, the things from beyond our understanding cling to the minds of men, like moth to a flame. Darkness seems thicker these days, as light fades from this world, and even the most cautious of sellswords can find fragility in their own sanity.
So if this sounds like a game for you, then feel free to apply below. Our group is fairly laid-back, our main method of voice chat is Discord, and we still haven't had anyone go insane yet, so now's your chance! I've thrown together a compilation of homebrew Feats, Equipment, and Houserules to go along with our game if you'd like to check 'em out first. Ideally we're looking for experienced players to add to our entourage, but feel free to apply regardless if you're interested! Thanks again for checkin' out our group, and have a good one.
