The world here isn’t like Earth. In fact, one would be hard pressed to even call this place a world but a plane or a space of existence would be better terms. The people here do not live on terrestrial bodies that orbit a sun in a pattern over and over and over again. No, the people here live in an expanse. As far as the eye can see, there is nothing but open sky and islands that dot the skyline. Floating islands. This expanse, known as Arvalan, has many amazing wonders of different people and sights. Some islands are as large as a house, others as large as a country. It’s rumored there are even larger land masses out there still, but the expanse is not fully explored.
However, that is only on the Horizontal axis of the plane. Should a traveler go too far up or down, they’ll be met with an unusual sight. To the skies far above, a giant ocean seems to stop and defy gravity. The waters becoming dark quickly and preventing vision into this sea. Those who have attempted to travel it have failed to return. Towards the bottom is a constant thunderstorm with lightning arcing upwards into the sky. Likewise to the sea, this storm has not been successfully passed and then had those people return.
Seyaria is a setting of my own design, with help of some of my friends, for this purpose of a Living campaign. So where can you read up more on this? On the website I built for it! You can find that, here! It also contains the rules you need to read to be accepted.
But, what is a Living Campaign? You may have asked upon seeing this odd title of "Living Campaign." A Living campaign is, in an essence, a Tabletop MMO. If you've ever played D&D's Adventure league or Pathfinder Society, it is mostly that with a few changes. But to answer those who don't know, you exist in a vast world of people with many others. When you log off for the night, the world still rotates, time still passes, and villains still do things. You are not the main character or even a small group of five, but a character within this world.
This is broken up into two segments: Encounters and Open Roleplay. Encounters (ERs) are your jobs, the actual meat and missions where you go out, find some bad person or people, and show them the pointy end of your sword (or if you are less violent, the error of their ways). Open Roleplay (ORP) is the time between jobs where you join the other players in the main tavern/guild and just talk, shoot the shit, have a chin wag, or however you say talk. A time to relax and enjoy playing your character for the roleplay. We highly recommend doing this as it will be available for you to do all the time.
Just fill out this handy little question sheet below. You MUST answer all of it in order to be accepted.
