What's that... You have never played Star Wars miniatures, but are interested in the rules and regulations? How about this: Rules And This:Line of Sight And This: Stealth

Just knowing the basics are enough, so if you have never played before or it has been a long time since you've played, brush up on the rules before jumping into a game.

The idea:

1.) To create a casual, friendly, and fun environment to play Star Wars Miniatures.
2.) Provide competitiveness for anyone looking for more than casual play.
3.) "Gamify" the interaction between players on: Website | forums | Discord.
4.) (optional) Incentivized play for star wars miniatures, with cosmetic rewards (ranks, badges, awards, etc.) on Website | forums | Discord just for playing and chatting with others in the community.
5.) This is a project to recreate and enhance the original Star Wars Miniatures game, developed by Wizards of the Coast, using Roll20 as the platform to recreate, play, and interact with other players in a semi-living - "star-wars-expanded-universe" - world.

Play Star Wars Miniatures just as it was intended. Or play in a customized campaign. Either Way - Lets play!

This project is designing a playstyle within the Star Wars Miniatures d20 ruleset, that can be played by casual or competitive players, on Roll20 - complete with auto-calculating macros for combat, initiative, turn-tracking, and more.

This project aims to create a scenario-based persistent campaign that asks the player to track 3-stats from each game they play, with any squad they play with, over numerous matches. It is expected that Unique-Heroes have the best chance at staying alive, persistently, and therefore having some viability with permanent-stats trackings, like the ideas presented here are referring to. However, persistent stat tracking and ranking up can occur with each and every mini you play with. Please note that if a miniature dies in a skirmish (on a declared Galactic Civil War Battle) then that miniature is considered dead for the purposes of tracking his stats and will be tracked as killed in action. This does not mean that you can't play with that squad again in ten minutes on the next match. It just means that whichever miniatures died permanently in any battle must start over each time. If the miniature, even a cost 10 card, lives from game to game - he keeps his stats. If he dies, just start over each game. It will be considered optional to track stats with cannon-fodder. But it would be really awesome to see a Cost:10 card come up in Rank and permanently increase its Stats and Special Abilities.

This is the virtual consequences and rewards for wins and losses for which I type.

How do I start playing Galactic Civil War?

I can translate any miniature ever made into a "handout" or "journal" or "character sheet" very easily in Roll20. I already have characters created and templates waiting. I can create each squad member a custom avatar and player token, as well as token macros for easy point and click damage rolls and calculations.

Having some knowledge of Roll20 is VERY helpful for streamlining games; the aim is to make this brand-new user-friendly. Once we develop a sign-up strategy and garner some interest more info will be provided HERE...

Do you already have 100, 150, 200 point squads created?

That's great, just let me know a little in advance and I will customize your team (on roll20) for you.

Check the Star Wars Mini Database to start building your (100, 150, 200 points) teams now!

I already have actual maps built into THIS ROLL20 game. Everything will be a cinch to customize and translate star wars miniatures into Roll20.

Game Type Ideas:

  • Persistent Campaign (coop) (ranked)
  • Rescue Missions (coop) (ranked)
  • Extract Missions (coop) (ranked)
  • Death Match (1v1) (ranked)
  • Free for All Fire-Fight (PvP) (casual)
  • Skirmish (PvP) (casual)
  • Duos (PvP) (coop) (ranked)
  • Fresh Pack Game (Draft) (??)
  • Era (??)
  • Light Vs. Dark (??)
  • No Faction (??)
  • Sealed (??)
  • Giant Monster Hunt (W.I.P.)

Brainstorm:

Players can choose to battle each other with custom point squads (4-6 players)
Players can team up and take on the game master and develop meaning behind the war

Scenarios:
- Save the princess from Darth Vader's clutches
- Attack on the Jedi temple
- Battle for Endor
- Escort and Protect Missions
- Recovery and delivery missions
- Hold point(s) of interest
- Rescue Missions
- (more info on persistent campaign soon).

Squad restriction will apply to certain battles on certain maps on certain days:
(you cant have more than 1 Very rare, only 2 rares... have to have 1 common... restrictions like this)...

So much customization and available data, it would be easy to translate Star Wars Miniatures into roll20. We just need a few dedicated and active players to help build: STAR WARS MINI'S ON ROLL 20!

For anyone who chooses to play the "persistent-squads" aspect of the Galactic Civil War here are some features:

  • This type of game has the players recording how many times they have played, won, and the total amount of kills they make, with each individual member of their squad, in order to track the "total-kills" attribute on your character sheet.
  • Much of the Rpg aspect for this is shrouded in faction-wars (scenarios of dark vs. light, winner takes control of the planet) on specific planets, with specific maps, in a specific era. Planet faction control provides bonuses and/or restrictions based on the scenario and squads, and players interested in building something like this.
  • This has the potential to help fine-tune match-play between unbalanced in skill-level games, helping to alleviate some pressure of better players beating us casuals in an easy Pew-Pew session...(I'm a casual but want to get better).
  • The goal is to even the playing fields; to play more games; to add some excitement through virtual consequences - like the Darkside taking control over the galaxy - and rewards - like disintegrating jawas - and meet like-minded friends within a community.

  • These stats will be calculated into an overall total

  • This total will be compared with the Rank system

  • Then, persistent squads with appropriate ranks and medals can purchase a bonus special abilities and utilities that may last just one use, for one game, or possibly permanently...

  • Examples: grenades on a character who otherwise doesn't have them, a 1-use override utility. This can only be achieved by earning a higher rank, simply by playing the game...

  • it's like customizing your own miniature, as you play it, and finetuning some 1-time utilities for certain scenarios...

  • Various Higher Ranks come with permanent increases in base stats for (all, some, or one) member(s) of your squad(s).

  • Permanently increase the health, damage, or defense of your command sergeant because you win all the games and get all the kills... (think character advancement in pen-and-paper RPG games with a star wars miniatures twist).

...Thanks for reading.
