The Sunless Citadel

The Adventure

The Sunless Citadel, written by Bruce R. Cordell, was the first published adventure for the third edition of the D&D game. It is designed for a party of four or five 1st-level player characters.
Ever since its publication in 2000, the Sunless Citadel has been widely regarded as an excellent way to introduce new players to the game. It's also a great starting experience for someone looking to be a Dungeon Master for the first time.

Session Time: 12:00pm EDT (UTC -04:00)
Session Length: 3-4 hours with a 10-minute break near the middle of the session.
Session #: We are on the third session, but would love a few more players to join us.
Level: The characters have just reached 2nd level. They should be 3rd level by the end of the adventure.

About the DM

My name is James. I love Dungeons & Dragons! I am a freelance D&D writer and designer. My most popular work is the Tides of Fate adventure series, found on the Dungeon Master's Guild. My work has been featured in Dragon+ and I have written articles on some popular D&D fan sites. I am friendly, good with the rules, and a fantastic communicator. I have been the Dungeon Master for many brand-new players, and I have run high level adventures for experienced veterans. I am confident I can provide a great D&D experience for you, rather you are playing for the first time, or the hundredth. I look forward to meeting you!

Why pay to play with me?

  1. I have many years of D&D experience at all levels and with many different group styles.
  2. I have spent a significant amount of time adding art and detail to this adventure, and the surrounding game world.
  3. I have an organized library of D&D rules, tokens, macros and API that ensure the game runs fast and smooth.
  4. If you work with me and play consistently, I can weave additional character backstory encounters into the narrative.

Conduct Rules

  1. Be respectful of the other players and the Dungeon Master.
  2. ABSOLUTELY NO racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, ageist, or any other offensive content. (see #1)
  3. Stay AWAY from controversial topics. Use your best judgement here. (see #1)
  4. Please bring a good mic and headphones, and/or limit background noise. (see #1)
  5. Pay attention and try to stay focused on the game, limit distractions. (see #1)
  6. NO Player vs Player. Fight alongside the party, not against the party. No grief-style play.
