Forbidden Desert (DnD 5e one-shot)

This is a D&D 5e level one one-shot. It's loosely based on the board game Forbidden Desert. This will be an old-school dungeon delve, pretty straight-forward. We'll be playing by text so a mic is not required. Here's the elevator pitch:

While the so-called "lost" deserts of the far east have an infamous reputation in the natural world, causing much tale-spinning and wild speculation, the natives have another word for it: forbidden. Many have ventured to those lands seeking all manner of rewards: riches, relics, fame. None have returned. Some claim the sands are possessed, swallowing any who dare enter. Others claim that horrible creatures roam the desert, protecting any treasures that may lie there. Against all warnings, you and your team of explorers have decided to investigate.

I've got some pre-gens (just choose spells and abilities), but feel free to make your own character.
