Before you Read
To note I'm a roleplay and storytelling intensive DM, this meaning that is my main focus to tell a compelling and overall great story; so if you like to RP then this table is for you. I'm a DM that excels at everything but, personally I will say that RP and storytelling are definitely the definitive factors in my DM'ing style and where I truly shine as a DM. Every NPC has their own self interest, drives/motivations. They are for all intents and purposes as well written as an actual character would be.With that being said my games are typically character focused and driven, with your decisions impacting the paths you may take. When backstory comes into the picture because of the mentioned character creation workshop below, this means as you progress the character development you also progress the adventure as a whole.
I love, and enjoy the world of Exandria first as a fan and later as a DM myself. You will be playing with a DM that has as much love for the setting as you do, and I will do it justice to it by creating fascinating and fun adventures in places and areas not really explored in the main show and may even touch on some that are. Once accepted into the game the players will be able to vote on a starting point on Tal’Dorei this affecting quest lines available to you. From there by the time the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount sourcebook releases the narrative and story would naturally take them onto the continent. This beginning potentially a cross continental campaign with all of the known world of Exandria at play for whatever epic adventure's the party happen to stumble upon!
This game is set to be a level 1-20 campaign. It's planned to be a game with the goal of going for the long run. So if this sounds like the kind of game for you don't be afraid to post an application down below! This game has been going on for the last 9 months! So the player's present are very committed to seeing the campaign through!
The game starts one full generation after Vecna’s defeat. While the Mighty 9 are in Wildemount, you will be dealing with the scars left behind by Vox Machina as there hasn’t been a new heroic force to lead Tal’Dorei in a new found direction in 20 years allowing for the next generation of adventurers to rise. This has left a vacuum of sorts evil begins to fester once as peace reigned, evil flourishing where light could not reach it. The dark corners of Tal’Dorei are slowly forming into a bottomless abyss and it needs heroes it needs you. Vampires who seek to usurp the political powers that be on Tal'Dorei plot and plan the downfall of the Republic. Converting those around them to necromantic ways seeking revenge against those who wronged them. Descendants of long forgotten kings begin to pop up with mysterious powers and nefarious factions that have long waited begin to rise again. Their mysterious power being as old as the continental name of Tal’Dorei, they seek to seat the one true king of Tal’Dorei. Threats long forgotten, frozen in time as fate shall have it the right moment is all they need their dreams of a world blanketed in oblivion. People with unique powers are hunted by a mysterious order, it appears that the Cinder King’s influence and further Vecna’s defeat enabled something special in the next generation of Tal’Doreians. But who hunts them? And why?
Who will pick up the mantle left behind by living legends and cast light into this abyss? Will it be you adventurer?
Hey I’m Duø and I’ll be your DM for this adventure I always encourage everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves at my tables, as they get to play in a game that constantly unfolds. New players are more than welcome to come along for the adventure, I create the best new-player experience for every player that joins my games. If your first introduction to D&D was a particular show called Critical Role then you are in good company! As that is the style of and element of D&D is what I truly love to encapsulate when I DM my own games. I really enjoy creating a good multi-layered narrative that people can be a part of and really sink their teeth into. Personally for me I’m always looking for a new story to tell, a new adventure to unleash and new themes that can be explored together alongside my players.
I first and foremost accept applicants based on quality, and compatibility over simply who applies first. I don’t look for just any player, I look for the best player I feel will fit with the party in terms of personality and players that synergize with my DM style. This means that just because you apply first, or may see another apply first, doesn’t mean you lose your chance of getting into the game. In my experience the best and longest campaigns come from finding all the right people and bringing them together.
If all of this interests you and my games sound like the perfect fit. Perhaps you find yourself being a curious and prospecting onlooker, send me a PM and I will personally invite you to spectate a session live as it happens. Where you get to see the magic happen for yourself.
The average game will last about 3-4 hours maxing out at 4 hours and will go no longer than such with a 10 minutes break about halfway through. The game will naturally extend the development of the character's present from wherever we ended up to after that wherever your adventure takes you. This meaning this campaign could go potentially from levels 1-20.
I am now going to explain the expectations of a player that sits down to play at my table. I’m all about unhindered fun as long as it doesn’t impede on the way someone else enjoys theirs. In my game’s your character is truly an individual and can decide what they want and don’t want to do. I was never fond of the idea of binding everyone to a group and stripping away their individual character’s wants and needs and pushing the responsibilities of the decision making onto one party member. To me, when you sit down to play the character you created, with your time, imagination and energy, they are always individual first. There is no “party leader” everyone’s a leader, and everyone contributes to the decisions made.
At the end of the day I want everyone to get along together and have fun playing a game we all commonly love, known as D&D. All the while being respectful towards each other for their time, energy and creativity that they’ve contributed into the game.
Only classes, races, class features, feats, and spells from the Core Rulebooks, and the following books or homebrew listed below are allowed:
Any Unearthed Arcana is explicitly not allowed unless discussed otherwise during character creation. The new UA released by WoTC is allowed.
The basics of creating your characters are as follows:
This is a process where once accepted into the game we set a date before the initial game happens where we hop in discord to discuss and create your character. Now I know you may be thinking “wait what about my character?!”. During this process you can come in with a pre-existing character but know that the character will not be the same as you entered with. This because there will be aspects of your character that simply will not and don’t fit into the world I’ve created and thus will need to be adapted so they smoothly transition into my game. For the most part during this process I bounce some ideas, theme’s and angles for you to take that character’s personality in a new direction that you may not have thought of before. Maybe with some of the additional concepts present opens up new doors for your character that simply wouldn’t have existed otherwise. With this process we together create a character that synchronizes with the world and will feel like they actually belong there, using elements of my existing knowledge of the world to create the best character possible.
The reason this exists primarily is so that I can teach new players about the rules and nuances of D&D during the character creation. It is also to inform players that may not necessarily be new to the game, of the things I’ve changed myself and the way my world and game works. I find that this process also adequately allows me to introduce myself as a DM so before our session 1 begins you’ll be familiar to some extent with me and my personality. This is my way of creating a more organic session 1 and it also better smooths over that “first session anxiety” I know that every D&D player feels across the whole table.
At the end of the day I’m here to tell a rich story that I hope the participants in the game will never forget, that also means having character’s present at the table that are written to meet the quality and expectations of me. I am there to help you with that every step of the way from character creation onward's. So with that I ask please be open minded through and through.
I strive for the players at my table to really embody their character and wear their skin as if it’s their own but there comes a point where the line is drawn. I support character RP, and player character based choices. Where the line is drawn, is when it disrupts the momentum of the game, or the player acts in their own self interest (breaking character). Using their character to do things that they really want to do vs. what their character would/should do. I support the idea of a character being an individual that is part of a group or team. If it is disruptive or toxic in nature, that is strictly not allowed. We’re here to have fun together, not ruin someone else's experience they’ve paid for. Fun at the expense of another is not fun.
Why should you pay for a DM?
