Good day everyone, my name Loyal, a not so new but not exactly veteran DM (apprentice DM would probably be the best description).
I am offering positions to 1 player to join in a, hopefully, long term campaign
If you see my profile you can check that have quite some time here on roll20 and the Supporter status, and though I might use dynamic lighting in my game, I am not very adept at using it and even less capable of using the rest of the features. But make no mistakes, just because I don’t have the time or the aptitude to make use of all these tools does not mean I am looking for player who think “Well this campaign isn’t that high quality so I can just slack off and not pay attention when not in combat/when someone else is talking etc. etc.” Experience with 5th or roll20 is not a requirement, but it will matter when I pick the players for this campaign.
Now, while I feel bad for people with weird schedules, either college students or people that work shifts, I am looking for player that are capable of attending the campaign. That means attending every single session every two weeks for 4 to 5 hours, as far into your immediate future as you can foresee. So when you send me a pm or answers this post, you are agreeing that, excluding unavoidable incidents or social obligations that you can’t dodge (I am not going to kick you for skipping this session if you have to go to your grandmas funeral), that this game is your priority for that day during those 5 hours that everyone agreed to. So if you don’t think you can do this (and think real hard on this and try to think what you do on this day for those 5 hours), then this game isn’t for you, please don’t apply and make me come back here a month from now because you don’t have the conditions to play for 5 hours without interruptions.
Campaign Rules
Now if you read everything in the overview and think to yourself that you fit this then we can start talking about what my game will be.
As I said before, I am not a veteran DM, not even a very experienced DM at that so I don’t have the confidence to make a homebrew adventure. What I do have is practice at running pre-written adventures and giving as much freedom to the players as I can offer.
Now try not to think of what I’m about to say as offensive because it isn’t. A friend of mine once said to me that “The relationship between player and DM is like a dog and his owner going for a walk, the DM leads the dog through their walk sometimes stopping so the dog can walk around him, sniff his surroundings, take a piss, you know what dogs do, but the dog always comes back to his owner so they can continue moving. Never does the owner need to drag the dog or the dog to drag the owner”. For those that don’t get it, I will give my understanding of this. Never does a DM have to railroad the players in to something they don’t want to do or have to drag players that don’t want to do anything forward, but neither should the players try to completely ignore what the DM has put in front of them and is trying to lead them towards. Putting it simply, this is not a sandbox game, if I start you in a town is for a reason and if for some reason someone gets in their head all of the sudden that they want to become merchants, buy supplies and leave the town, is dragging me away. So mutual understating of things will make this campaign a lot better for everyone.
But, getting to the juicy part which everyone is probably wondering, what pre-written adventure are we playing? To answer that question… I don’t know. There are several adventures written by Paizo or WoTC and other publishers that we will be able to play and I will give you a list of the ones that I know something about because I already ran them or read them or heard of them. And of course if you get picked you might even be able to say “I would love play this adventure because this, that and this”. And just so we are clear, these will be converted to 5th edition if needed.
If it is in the Player Handbook you can play it. There might be some extra rules here and there; honestly, I haven’t completely looked at all the variant features in the DMG so we will see.
Ah, the age old question, should I be chaotic stupid or chaotic stupid.
Ok, serious time, I believe that the alignment you pick will be somewhat important and while I don’t have any restrictions on alignments, there is one thing that you should consider when picking your alignment. And that question is, if I pick this alignment with this personality with these goals will I want to keep being part of this adventure and even travel with these other 3 fools that clearly DON’T UNDERSTAND THAT THEIR SOULS BELONG TO HIM WHO IS NOT TO BE NAMEDAND THAT I SHOULD BE HELPING OUR ENEMY NOT THESE MORONS! Hmm… Forgot where I was going with this, well beyond the point, try to stick your alignment and build your characters personality and code around it so it becomes a tool of rp and not a shackle that makes you do things that you don’t want to do. Though if you read The Game session you will not be all picking chaotic neutral and go around hobo murdering
MILESTONES! No XP will be tracked. You will all level up at the same time when I feel it is the appropriate time.
If you have the money and the cleric with the spell then you are good to go with some good old fashion raise dead or resurrection or whatever. But in the event of the character just being dead with no means of getting back up then you will make a new one at the same level as the other party members with whatever gear I deem appropriate. You are encouraged, not forced, to try and pick a different class and race that you started with. Though I won’t deem it appropriate if you just go with Human Fighter the First, Human Fighter The Second, Human Fighter The Third etc.
Standard 27 point buy.
Date & Time
The game time and date are every 2 weeks on Sundays at 9am GMT+0 and it will continue for 4 to 5 hours. The exact starting date will be decided after all players are gathered

If you read everything so far, and you feel that this campaign might suit your personal tastes, the first thing you need to do to join the campaign is respond to this thread. And because everyone is doing it, to make sure you actually read the thread before blindly posting your interest, in your post write anything involving the cthulhu mythos somewhere in the body of your post as obviously or not as obviously as you wish as I did in this thread, extra point if you actually mention the one I did. I will then send a pm to you and will ask some simple question.
This post will remain up until I find the 3 or 4 players or until it disappears in to the 2nd page. When I find the player I will quickly edit this thread informing that recruiting is finished and people can move on with their search for games. If you answer my questions I will try as soon as possible to send you a reply with confirmation of whether or not you will be joining.
Everybody, thank for reading and i will look forward to your reply, any questions you have please point them out and I will answer to the best of my ability.
After the unpleasant disappearance of one my players i am starting the search for a replacement.
1 spot is open and the game we decided to start playing is the Age of Worms
For those worried about entering mid campaign, do not because we had 3 sessions so far and not much important information has been missed and the info that they already have the rest of the players will gladly catch you up on.
For those interested in the party composition, we have a bard, rogue and wizard. All lvl 3
I think that is all the update info you will need, the rest of the information remains the same.
