Experience the magic of The Legend of Zelda in tabletop RPG form! This homebrew campaign will be set in Hyrule. I would like to play with the new Reclaim the Wild 2.00 ruleset, although we can use an adaptation of 5E if players would prefer - I will let the players decide.
Given that the Zelda series is not concerned with strict continuity, our setting, characters, and history will not be bound by Zelda "canon" (such as it is), but inspired by and imbued with Legend of Zelda lore, art, and flavor.
For new or experienced players - play the game you've always wanted to play as a TTRPG! Given that this is a Zelda-inspired game, good "alignment" (although alignment doesn't exist as such in RtW) is appropriate for this campaign.
The campaign will be limited to a maximum of 5 players (if you see more in Roll20, it's because I have a test player set up and may have spectators with live in-game viewing).
Please let me know when you post if you want to use the Reclaim the Wild (reclaimthewild.net) ruleset, or if you would prefer to use a modified 5E ruleset, as that will require some tweaking before we begin. Whether we use RtW, where everyone will be new to the rules, or 5E, we won't be rules-lawyery. We'll go with D&D "rule zero" to facilitate fun gameplay, and can discuss the rules in more detail in text chat/between sessions.
Some things to note:
You are not link. Like all TTRPGs, this is a group game - you are not the protagonist surrounded by supporting characters (that's what the single-player games are for).
I am not playing to kill you! Character death would be very rare in a Zelda game. We're going to have a fun adventure in a fun setting full of stuff you love from Zelda games. That doesn't mean it won't get challenging at times, but we're not playing Master Mode (at least, not this time).
Friendly and respectful to all is a requirement. Making others uncomfortable is not the Zelda way.
To enhance roleplaying, after session 0/1 we will limit OOC/mechanics discussion in voice chat, and keep that primarily to text chat. e.g. if your character makes a joke, that's fine. If you as a player make a joke (which is definitely a fun part of RPGs, but can be distracting) let's keep that primarily in text chat. We will not implement this rule until after session 0/1 as there will probably be a lot of questions. If we use RtW rules, I will be more flexible on this for the first several sessions until everyone is more familiar with the rules.
Please read the player's handbook. You should be familiar with your own character's rules (e.g. rules from your own race, skills, magical abilities, etc.).
If you are interested in this campaign, please use post in the character application.
We will be using Discord for voice chat. Session videos will be available, and I will probably do public streaming and/or video uploads via twitch/youtube.
