We'll be playing the newest official campaign, Rime of the Frostmaiden! Will be on Tuesdays at 10PM EDT. I plan to start the campaign about 2 weeks after release (to give me time to read and prep everything). This is a paid campaign at $30/month (approximately 7.50/session). This helps me pay for advanced Roll20 features and content, and support the music, art, and technology creators whose content I use to make our experience great...plus having a little skin in the game is good for keeping players committed! I plan to do a one-shot or two beforehand so you can make sure that we're a good fit before you have to pay. New players are welcome.
Some things to note:
Rule Zero, also known as GM fiat, is the common RPG rule that the GM has the ultimate say in all rules matters and can thus introduce new rules or exceptions to rules, or abolish old ones at their leisure. To put simply, it means the GM is like the god of the game.
I'm not playing to kill you. I'm playing with you to create a fun experience. I'll try to keep challenges balanced enough to be interesting and even a little threatening, but it's not a bad idea to have a backup character in mind, just in case.
Friendly and respectful to all is a requirement. Making others uncomfortable is not good D&D.
To enhance roleplaying, after session 0/1 we limit OOC/mechanics discussion in voice chat, and keep that primarily to text chat. e.g. if your character makes a joke, that's fine. If you as a player make a joke (which is definitely a fun part of D&D, but can be distracting) let's keep that primarily in text chat.
I'm not a huge stickler about this and definitely like the friend-making aspect of online play. We have general chat before sessions start and sometimes stay on the server talking long after the session is over, and text chat all throughout the week. But if lots of goofs and OOC discussion is your style and not so much getting into the role play, this probably isn't the best group for you. (If you're a new player, don't be intimidated by that - we'll accommodate your rules questions and burgeoning role play as long as you make an effort).
If you are a new player, please read the player handbook. You should be familiar with your own race/class/spells/attributes, Part 2 (chapters 7-9), and chapter 10 if your character uses spells. You don't have to remember all of the rules (I sure won't) but have a general familiarity.
If you are interested in joining this campaign, message me with:
Your Discord username - we will be using Discord for voice.
Your background with D&D, if any
Character info, if you have it (I understand you may want to change once more info about the campaign is released and depending on party composition)
Session videos will be available and I may share with others/make them public (e.g. I'm planning a DM series where a friend & I do a critique of my own DMing in a session, to help other DMs).
