Welcome to the Sticks 2

Welcome to the Sticks.

It was all so quick. When civilization was dying, all the planning and sacrifices we were making were not enough. The world shattered and collapsed like a brick through a window. There was no time to find the sanctuary as everything came crashing down. Not everyone made it underground; you count yourself as one of the lucky few. The residents of the Prism Station were one the lucky few, and you are one of them. Still untouched by the apocalypse. Like everyone else here, you joined Project Prism because you believed in the message, or for a loved one, or for survival. Project Prism continues the natural history of human adaptation. Wherever humans go, we adapt our surroundings using whatever available resources there are, be it goods or people. Project Prism harnesses our potential, researching ways to alter and enhance us with preternatural abilities.

Our hidden utopia had kept friends and family safe as the world outside devoured itself, fighting over the scraps left behind after the end. However, this would not last, and the "agenda" time table was accelerated. To conserve resources, groups of people were placed into stasis much sooner than anticipated. Every few months, a batch of us would awake to take care of the others and continue with the "plan" before returning to stasis. We are now going into your third cycle...

This gritty post-apocalyptic campaign will use an indie skill-based system called Threshold. It will allow players to build the character the way they want rather than have a pre-defined class-based path. The system is lethal and is grounded in a more "low level" reality over high adventure/action movie heroes. There will be minor stats improvements or adjustments. The game is about character development instead of character advancement.

Player Responsibilities:

  • ENGAGE with NPCs. - They are as real and as alive as you are. They have their own motivations, fears, desires, and are not merely "waiting for a hero to show up."

  • EXPLORING the setting. - The world will not come to you. If you do not seek out its mysteries, you can't impact the world in meaningful ways.

  • SET GOALS & WORK TOWARDS THEM! - The game is about your characters. What you do matters. But if you do nothing then the game is about that; doing nothing. There is no plot; YOU drive the game.

  • Must be 21+ years old. - While this is entertainment, the themes will need to be handled with maturity.

Campaign Focus

  • Thrust into a dangerous place will you make allies? How will you find supplies? What kind of home will you have?

  • Combat is lethal. Healing is slow.

  • Remaining in character as much as possible while being true to your character's motivations, goals, flaws, and personality.

Player Application

This campaign will handle adult themes; thus, all players must be 21+ years old.

Step 1) Answer the questions below.

Step 2) Based on the answers given, I'll invite some players to a group chat via Discord (the server we'll be playing on) to get to know each other a little more and answer questions you may have. I'm an open book so ask away!

Step 3) From here, I'll invite the top people for a Session Zero. In this session, we'll make characters as a group, determine what type of crew you would like to be, and act as a final evaluation of all players.

(There are no right or wrong answers)
