This is a homebrew game that I'm tentatively calling “Cyberpunk 2099”. The game runs on Thursday nights from 8pm to 12am US eastern time using Skype for voice. The game has already started, but I'm looking for a couple more players. This will be a long-running game with no definite set end.
The game is homebrew system and setting, though it's really not hard to pick up. The setting is semi-near future "hard sci-fi" cyberpunk. Other important bits about the game and setting:
The system is of my own design that I'm calling the Adaptable Dice System (ADS). I think of it kind of as a mash-up of dice-pool and Fate with a lot of other tweaks thrown in. The idea behind it is to have actual gameplay/combat run quickly, while still providing a lot of different options for players to explore in creation and tactics. Admittedly, I wouldn't tout it as the easiest system for beginners, but RPG veterans should enjoy the way it's designed and the options it presents without it being too difficult to pick up. It has been well tested via numerous other games I've run using it and most of the major quirks should be worked out at this point.
The players get to have an active hand in the kind of world/setting the game is (within reason. I'm obviously not going to allow magic into my hard sci-fi cyberpunk setting). This is largely going to be accomplished by working through your character background and filling in details as they relate to your character. I am also taking suggestions and input on the game and setting itself.
Players get Fate points a-la Fate Core. If you're not familiar with the Fate system, this essentially means that you get to spend a Fate point and dictate what you want to have happen. I'm honor-bound to let/make said things happen within reason. I'll go over this in more detail later.
This is going to be an 'open-world' game. What this would mean for you guys though is that things essentially don't happen unless you make them happen and there's no set plot; I'm building this game around the characters and their motivations. Fixers (to use shadowrun terms) won't contact you; you go to them and so on and so forth. That said, every action has an equal and opposite re-action (even inaction!).
The setting is the year 2099, 15 years after the Third World War. Cybernetics have advanced rapidly and have become almost commonplace. Corporations have nearly as much, if not more, power as the governments do and the world is generally a mess. The party is currently operating as a PMC in Istanbul attempting to take over the city and eventually all of Turkey and the surrounding areas. Additional setting details can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1H1ENi6Qz25fyvS5H9x-eG_HdNEvtDm0Psh0N2nyKymU/edit?usp=sharing
Inspirations this game in particular is drawing from include: Deus Ex, Eclipse Phase, Shadowrun, and others.
If you're willing to join in, you'll have the opportunity to suggest aspects of the world/setting as a whole, as well as provide input into the game system such as Talents and Feats that your character may make use of.
I'm looking for players that are experienced, not afraid to get their hands dirty in a newer system, ideally can and have GM'd in the past (for possible future games), and are reliable as far as making game times.
If this kind of game interests you, either reply here or PM me and we'll see how things go from there.
For clarification: This game has no relation whatsoever to the game Cyberpunk 2020
