Forbidden Lands | Raven's Purge

THIS GAME IS FULL. BUT, THE POSTING WILL STAY UP AND APPLICATIONS CAN STILL BE PLACED. IF A PLAYER DROPS, WE'LL PULL A NEW PLAYER FROM THOSE WHO'VE PUT IN AN APPLICATION FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.

Note: This is NOT a Dungeons & Dragons game. This is a FREE to play game. 

Did you hear the story of the Forbidden Lands? Beyond the mountains, beyond the mists of the north? Once, it was called the Ravenland, our promised land. These days, strange creatures haunt those valleys, beasts that should not be, for the land is cursed...

INTRODUCTION
"Forbidden Lands is a new take on classic fantasy roleplaying. In this sandbox survival roleplaying game, you’re not heroes sent on missions dictated by others – instead, you are raiders and rogues bent on making your own mark on a cursed world. You will discover lost tombs, fight terrible monsters, wander the wild lands, and if you live long enough, build a stronghold of your own to defend."

THE SETUP
The campaign area is called the Ravenland, also known as The Forbidden Lands because they are off limits to those from the empire to the south. Some of the player characters will be from that southern empire, Alderland*. They will arrive by ship and left to explore the land as they will. It'll be up to players to answer: Why have you come here? Are you a thief on the run? An explorer out to seek your fortune? Searching for someone you love who has gone missing in the Forbidden Lands? Do you plan to go home to Alderland - if so, how will you achieve that? Or, will you stay here and carve out your own fiefdom? Some player characters will be natives of the Forbidden Land, just leaving the confines of their village after a long period of enforced isolation. Why are you leaving home? What do you hope to find?  Let's play to find out!

PLAY THIS GAME if you want to 
- Play a dark medieval fantasy game.
- Play a overland hex crawl game that has detailed rules for travel, survival, crafting and stronghold building.
- Play a game that relies on random rolls.
- Play a game where character death happens.
- Play a game which is equal parts roleplay, combat and resource management.

DO NOT PLAY this game if 
- You do not like dark fantasy games that involve violence, the macabre and the grim.
- You do not like the 'tedium' of travel and/or resource management.

BASICS 
- The Game: Forbidden Lands RPG
- Day/Time: Fridays / 10 a.m. PST
- Game Length: 3 hours or so
- Video/Voice: Voice only (English) via Discord. Discord link will be sent to players once accepted into the the game.
- Schedule: Every other week as time permits.
- Number of Players: 3-4 Players plus GM.

MY PLAYSTYLE 
- Player story input always encouraged.
- Rules are a tool, not the law.
- Playing it straight, not saying there won't be humor, but I'm assuming a dark, macabre game.
- No Player Vs. Player (PVP)
- Open Dice Rolls - Everyone Sees Rolls
- Battlemaps, may be used, but theatre of the mind is the foundation of play...but I like maps and pictures, so there is that...

EXPECTATIONS FROM PLAYERS 
- Attendance at scheduled play sessions. 24 hours, or as much notice as possible if you can't make a session
- Be cool. Respect your fellow players and GM.
- You get what you put in. I expect players to learn the basic game rules and the special rules for their characters.

I welcome everyone at my tables who can be good humans. Sexist, racist, homophobic, etc. commentary will get you removed without discussion.

RULES

It doesn't allow you to generate a character. For that you'll need the full rules (see below), but the quick start will give you enough information to let you know if you'd be interested in playing the game.
