Every year, the goblins come to town at midsummer to sell a single piece of magical fruit to the highest bidder. Every year, the planted seeds from that magical fruit spout, and then the saplings disappear in the night.
They say the goblins hide out in a buried fortress — a citadel that has been swallowed whole by the earth…
First published 20 years ago, The Sunless Citadel is a legendary D&D dungeon crawl. Whether you’re a new player looking for a trial-by-fire intro to D&D, or a veteran who’s missed out on this classic dungeon, this is a great opportunity to try some new characters, outwit new traps, solve puzzles, and explore one of D&D’s best known sites with a professional dungeon master.
Note: I just ran this adventure for a party that loved their time together so much that they are continuing on to 'Waterdeep: Dragon Heist' together — this is a good starting adventure!
Time: Saturdays at 6:00pm EST, beginning January 2nd
Run time: ~4 hours, for 3 or 4 sessions
Cost: $10.00 USD, paid with PayPal in advance to secure your seat in the game. You can pay $30 instead for all 3-4 sessions up front.
Characters: We will create two 1st level characters per player — one to start with, and a backup in case of character death.
Group: Aiming for 4 players — I prefer to run smaller crews so that everyone gets more time to shine. Discord account required for audio chat between players.
What you’ll need: Basic familiarity with D&D 5th Edition and Roll20. Otherwise, just bring a collaborative spirit and a good attitude
Drop down into the forum/game discussion below and see the "Join the game here!" thread. All of the instructions are right there, and it takes no more than one or two minutes. Either that, or feel free to send me a private message directly and we'll throw you into the Discord.
I’ve been running Dungeons & Dragons games for over 10 years across various editions. I love telling great stories and putting player characters at the center of those narratives. I like to use one-shots to teach the game, test out new encounters, and find quality players for longer campaigns.
Mandatory Disclaimer: This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $10/person at start of each session, or $30 for the whole adventure. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
