"Welcome to Beta Six, soldier.
Name's Saren, Laura Saren. Captain of the United Natashan Navy. I'm you're new CO." A woman somewhere between her late twenties to early thirties stepped into the room and smiled, her hair bright red was tied into a tight bun. Her Natashan navy uniform was kept clean and obviously well maintained. The Grey uniform was decorated with two patches on her right sleeve. Neither of which you recongise. Spook maybe? Some sort of secret subsection of the military intelligence branch? Hell if you know. This is all so many levels above your pay grade, you could see clouds.
"Now listen, I know you may not know each other. Or maybe you do. For all I know you could have serve in the same combat team or this could be the first time you've ever met each other. I didn't assemble this team. I was selected just as you were. You all have skills, so do I, that's why we are here and we have a job to do. We're all here to turn this war around. Because I can promise you. Right now? It's not going well, regardless of what section six tries to spin. This is your one chance to say no. I can't tell you more until I have your answer. You know how it is. OPSEC and all that. So what do you say?
Op White Snow is a game set within the Stars Without Number Universe.
A military campaign running with a lot of the Beta rules and equipment held within the Starvation Cheap Military/ Mercenary Campaign rule set.
In the game you will be assuming the roles of a special forces squad named Beta Six under the command of Captain Laura Saren.
You are all members of the United Natashan Navy. On the loosing side of interplanetary war that has been raging for years.
The campaign will be broadcast in the form of a podcast/ youtube series on a weekly or biweekly basis depending on player commitments.
I will be looking to stream the game if I can find someone willing to do the actual streaming ( because with my beautiful Aussie internet and all my internet really isn't up to the task!)
All players must be willing to be a part of this broadcast.
The campaign itself will run for 4-8 weeks depending on how we go.
Me: (The DM)
I have experience DMing campaigns in both second edition AD&D and Fifth Edition D&D campaigns and of course a couple of Stars Without Number campaigns.
Contact me if interested.
Once we have talked through details and everything is good we will start rolling up your characters. The last step of this process will be that, I will need a written physical description of your character.
If you have any further questions feel free to ask.
Other Important Info.
Applications will close on the 08/Aug/2015 I will select players then.
The Mature Content (18+) will mainly be combat oriented. Some descriptions will be graphic. Although I don't discourage, other mature content at the table, just so long as everyone else at the table is fine with it. (It will be a discussion we will have.) In addition remember you are playing members of the military. I think a paragraph from the Starvation Cheap book sums it up.
"A PC squad is unlikely to contain both officers and enlisted. A PC might be the squad’s sergeant or corporal, and while NCOs are expected to keep their social distance from the enlisted a certain amount of socializing is inevitable due to the close working conditions. The kind of cooperation normal to an adventuring party is unlikely to be a problem, though intra-group romances would be a serious breach of discipline in most armies. What this means for the GM is that the PCs should expect to socialize within their own military class. Due to the special vagaries of a PC unit, the usual rules about fraternization might be quietly ignored for them if the party includes PCs of different ranks, or it may be that the PCs just keep their closer affiliations concealed except when they’re on a mission. Romances that cross rank boundaries or open favoritism in a unit should be a clue to the PCs that the unit is not a healthy or well-led group."
