## Survive!
A flurry of powder snow hangs suspended in the air at the bottom of the ravine. The party waits and watches -- anxious and expectant. If the avalanche they orchestrated killed the basilisk that was hunting them, they have a chance to scavenge its corpse for its scaly skin, sharp claws and possibly even food. If it survived, the poorly-equipped party, too close to run from the beast should it emerge from the tons of rock and snow covering it, are in deep trouble.
Survive! is a D&D 5E campaign set in Eberron -- a world of steampunk technology and high magic. Players start the campaign with only the clothes on their backs, pursued relentlessly by an enemy too strong to overcome. More than 1,000 miles across the primordial wilds of Xen'drik sanctuary awaits. Will your party evade its unyielding enemies, or will the group grow strong enough after its trials to turn, face and defeat its opponents?
My name is Brian and I have been a DM for 25 years. I have refereed Call of Cthulhu, Traveler, Marvel Super Heroes, Gurps, MERP, Rolemaster and of course, D&D. Like most of you, I treasure the camaraderie of a group of friends sitting down to create a tale of intrigue and daring. To that end, I fervently believe that above all, the goal is for everybody to have fun.
My referee style rewards role-playing, audacity and action. Games I have been the referee for have been described as Indiana Jones/pulp fiction serials. That’s a good thing too, because that is the flavour I aim for.
1) Each session will run between 3 and 4 hours, depending on what the players want, with a short break in the middle.
2) Game times will be decided on what works best for the players. I will never be late, but if a session needs to be cancelled, I will give a minimum of 24 hours notice and players will receive a $5 credit for the next session.
3) If you require extra help with your character or the rules, I can be messaged between games for some one-on-one help.
4) The sessions will feature dynamic lighting, music, sound effects and artwork (besides maps) for a more immersive experience.
5) I believe that the spirit of the rules can override RAW. I also believe in ‘The Rule of Cool’. Should a disagreement occur, it will be settled based on RAW, with the DM having the final say.
1) This is a safe, fun environment for everyone. Any bullying, including racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism or actions designed to denigrate another will not be tolerated. Players violating this rule will be booted without refund.
2) The game is for fun! Players will play their own character and others will respect that. In other words, it is OK to give advice to someone who asks for it, but please refrain from telling other players the ‘smart’ way to play their character.
3) There will be no PVP in this game! A party is a collaborative effort which means that sometimes compromises must be made for party unity. That said, if there is a consensus that some light role-play stealing is OK, then that will be allowed.
1) Please know what your character can and can’t do. This especially includes spells, feats and abilities inherent in your race and class.
2) I will always show proper respect and expect the players to do the same with me.
Characters will be created before session 0. All the races and classes in the Player’s Handbook are allowed, as are the races in Eberron. Anyone requiring assistance rolling up a character can contact me and we will work through it together.
Use the Roll20 Charactermancer with the 27 point buy system (All stats start at 8, then divide 27 points between them). Eberron races can be classed as ‘custom’ within the Charactermancer.
Full HP for first level, rolling for HP afterwards, with the median roll being the lowest possible HP gain per level.
Leveling is based on experience points.
Players can choose one of the following at 1st level:
1) Free Feat
2) Magic Item
3) 250 gp
4) Rolled stats – 4d6 rolled 7 times. Drop the lowest dice and lowest roll.
This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $15 per session via Paypal or E-Transfer, payable 24 hours before game time. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
