It has been five years since the conclusion of the Third War and the world has been forever changed by all that was wrought during that terrible conflict. The fate of men and nations remains uncertain as a tenuous future extends outwards towards turbulent horizon. Amidst such times, those with the strength of spirit, arm and mind may wrest destiny from the arms of chaos and shape its image in their own likeness.
This will be a weekly game with an immersive, role-play focused playstyle in which exploration of characters' personality and goals is the primary focal point over "dungeon-delving", mechanical minutiae or advancement via combat. As indicated in the title above, the events of the game will take place within the setting of the Warcraft franchise and set during the approximate time period of "vanilla" World of Warcraft. In order to maintain some of the feel of the franchise, the basis for the rules will spring from the Classic Fantasy iteration of the Mythras rules, though without considerations for battlemat combat or tactical movement. Video and Voice will be used via Discord while sheets will be provided here on Roll20 for ease of dice rolling. Cameras are required.
I find a great deal of the features present within the Warcraft setting to be extremely compelling and interesting but have often felt disappointed in the lack of depth present in existing explorations of the world. Setting a game in this world using the Mythras system I hope will provide the opportunity to provide the thorough examination of the world and the characters who live within it that I feel has been lacking.
Hopefully this description resonates with others and offers a clear illustration of what I hope to offer. This game is not intended to recreate the surface level presentation of the setting or the gameplay loop of mob-killing and loot acquisition that is present in the MMO. Rather, the goal is to present and react to the world seriously on its own terms and explore the motivations and personalities of characters who would realistically live in such a world.
If the above sounds interesting to you, or you have any questions, please feel free to post below or PM me here directly on Roll20.
