Rime Time / Divus Vult

Are you a committed player who loves to invest in all three pillars of exploration, roleplay, and combat? Are you willing to invest in your party members' backstories as well?
Hello, I'm Dom and I've been DMing on Roll20 for almost four years. You can visit my profile for more stats and even player reviews. I've never required any of my players to pay for play. I dedicate my time to create a well-thought-out campaign including high quality custom battle maps, music, and even custom art. I enjoy seeing the world come together with players that are engaging and are interested in working with each other to immerse themselves and explore the world. If you can provide me with a commitment to engage in the story, the world, and your party, then that is enough payment for me.

So what's the setting?
First, the party is finishing up Rime of the Frostmaiden. They are currently level 7 and our intention is to finish the campaign before July. After that, we intend to break until August when the homebrew campaign will begin. We would prefer to playtest any new players in the current campaign to ensure that you would be a great fit for the party. The current campaign takes place on Mondays AND Thursdays starting at 930PM EST. For the homebrew campaign, Divus Vult, we will only be playing on Mondays at the same time.
Once the homebrew campaign has begun, you will play through a fantasy setting that centers itself around the region of Balador. When the orcs, humans, and hobgoblins of the Ang'kori Empire waged war with the elves, dwarves, halflings, and leonin of the Baladorian Commonwealth, a handful of their best managed to slay a deity and inherited its power. These five walking gods managed to use their divinity to turn the tide of war and the Ang'kori Empire won. Over 700 years later, the story begins with the return of one of these gods and his intention to use his necromancy to spread chaos throughout the realms. The party will have the opportunity to journey through the realms of these god-kings and choose their own destiny.

What you can expect from me as DM:
ATTITUDE. I will come to the session ready to DM with a great attitude. Not being in a good mood or being tired and it being obvious can weigh on the session and dampen gameplay.
PREPARATION. I will be as prepared as any DM can be for any shenanigans that might unfold. This includes a detailed mindset of the lore involved, the mechanics of 5E, and the capabilities of using Roll20.
I will provide the Charactermancer of all published books (PHB, VOLO, MTOF, XGTE, TCE, VRGR, FToD, OotD) so that character building can be that much easier for all players. You will hear a variety of music for sound effects, battling, and tracks for varying environments and locations. I also take care of the detailed quest tracking, session recaps, party loot tracking, and location/NPC name information. This helps to clear any confusion while making it less tedious to find and review information about previous sessions.
TIMELINESS. I always show up on time and ready to go each week without absence. Should there be any emergencies or plans that overlap gameplay, I will inform the party in a timely manner.
NO DM VS PC. There isn't an adversarial relationship between the DM and PCs. It's not the party vs the DM; we are all here to have fun and create an interesting story while doing so. Coming with that is the looming threat of PC death, but even those moments can make for some of the greatest moments in a story of tragedy. Embrace those moments should they occur and make for an epic conclusion for your PC.
ALLOWABLE GAMEPLAY. The balance of saying "No." If a player wants to do something, they should always be allowed an attempt to do that activity, or there should be ways to work towards that activity. This is where I, the DM, step in to set DCs high or low, or automatically allow for whatever is being asked to occur, should it be something within the realms of easy capability.
PATIENCE. You won't feel a sense of urgency to get through things, unless there are time-sensitive matters. The three pillars of roleplay, exploration, and combat are typically balanced but sometimes we will enjoy more time with one pillar over the others. This is truer for this campaign due to the amount of potential downtime that will allow for you to become more involved with the world around you. If a session is filled with roleplay as the PCs spend it going around the city preparing for an encounter and trying to find out as much information about whoever, or perhaps they are trying to recruit hirelings and make new friends they can depend on in the future, that will be allowed.
CRITICISM-TOLERANT. At the end of sessions, the players and DM have the opportunity to fill out a five-question post-session questionnaire that talks about the good and bad of a session. This is where you will learn what players like and what players might not like. Keep an open mind and take criticism well. We all have areas in which we can improve but sometimes we don't see them until they are pointed out. You don't have to always fill out the questionnaire but anything you add will help in the development of future sessions, and reassure or help the party on the things you mention.
R.E.S.P.E.C.T. I utilize a system called the R.E.S.P.E.C.T. tips. This will allow you to adequately prepare for any task at hand to help ensure that you and your party members don't fail. As you try to work towards these tips, you may find it more rewarding not only in your success but with the rewards of the world.
MATURITY. We are all adults here and understand gore can be described, curse words can be spoken, and raunchy topics might be covered. This party is open to to most concepts and we aren't offendable. Please be prepared to speak up if something isn't to your liking.

What we expect from you:
TIMELINESS. You must be on time and ready to go. If you cannot make it to the session, you will inform us as soon as possible (at least two days in advance is preferred if it isn't an emergency).
PILLAR ENGAGEMENT. You will be engaged and focused on the session at hand and actively following through with scenarios.
TEAMWORK. This campaign will require teamwork in order to survive when in dangerous situations especially with the shift in resource management. The party will rely on each other and play off of each other's strengths and weaknesses. As such, try to focus on the RESPECT tips to help with gameplay.
ATTITUDE. You may be a knowledgeable player that engages in the story well but if you have a horrible attitude, that takes away from the session itself and makes you an undesirable player to keep. You will participate with a great attitude and appreciate the story and world being built around you. If you need to discuss a ruling, we can do so in a civil manner. If it is ambiguous, the DM will have the final say. Rule 0. Understand that any criticism you or we might receive isn't to make you or us feel bad but to help you or us improve for future sessions. No one here is perfect and together we can improve on any issues we might have.
TECHNICAL PREP. All technical issues should be resolved prior to starting the session, including the function of your microphone. Discord will be used for out-of-session roleplaying and voice communications, Roll20 for all other functions.
FEEDBACK. After each session, I post a post-session questionnaire that can be answered over the week. This will look at the favorite player moments, the favorite DM moments, what you/we are hoping for in the next session, and what the DM or party can improve on, if anything at all.
POST-SESSION ENGAGEMENT. There will be text roleplay channels that can be utilized outside of the session. If there were moments you wished to roleplay with another PC but things were moving too quickly, or you want to RP during a downtime event, or perhaps you'd rather a roleplay moment outside of the session so that the conversation doesn't bloat the session, these text channels can be used to have that discussion. Typically these scenarios will be limited to one-on-one scenarios only to help with scheduling of various players and their capability to respond during the week. This is a great opportunity to bond with other PCs and find out/discuss information that could be useful for the following sessions. It'll also help make the sessions more oriented towards the party as a whole rather than a 20-30 minute conversation among two PCs, a PC and an NPC, shopping, etc.
