It is a tumultuous time: kingdoms are at war, numerous political factions are competing for notoriety and power, and age old conflicts are brewing beneath a facade of paper treaties. There is kingless country ripe for the taking... all that is missing is for heroes to make their claim upon the land.
Hey guys! This will be the game I'll be recording for my online series, "16-bit Pathfinder Let's Play". If you haven't checked out my videos yet I've got a few tutorials at https://www.youtube.com/c/16bitProfessor. There's also some good screenshots of my games located at http://imgur.com/a/lBau5 and http://imgur.com/idRJ9s6.
All of this is to say that I put in a lot of work and want to make this series really special. The requirements I have are far more stringent than most games ran by GMs (or myself usually). This is because it is for the series and I want to be able to deliver the best possible experience for the viewer. Understand that I value authenticity, roleplaying, and creative character decisions more than anything and normally those things trump all other requirements, but this time I've upped the ante a bit on non-gaming requirements.
Non-gaming Requirements:
-Skype: both video AND audio
-Elementary Roll20 Experience (or willing to do research ahead of time; bottom line is I want characters set up on the in-game sheets with appropriate macros, etc.)
-Reliable Schedules (one or two cancellations ahead of time is fine, as long as I know ahead of time so I can work it into the story).
-Note that once or so a month we will not play (you will know ahead of time); this is to give me extra time to compile and edit videos, catch up on spritebuilding, etc.
Now that that's out of the way, the fun stuff!
Character Creation Notes:
-We will be rolling for stats (likely 4d6, dropping lowest, and ordering by preference)
-Core Races (Races of 10RP and less outside of core will be considered, but are not preferred)
-No summoners. Animal companions and Familiars are okay but not preferred unless the player is extremely experienced and won't take long turns.
-I will be playtesting a custom class (The Void Knight); I'd like one player to select it for playtesting and balancing. Be prepared to receive buffs and nerfs as the game progresses if you should decide you want to try it out.
What I want from you: A description of yourself, what you like about Pathfinder (or tabletop games in general), what kind of player you are, and perhaps just 1-2 of your favorite characters you've played before or that you like to play in general.
When I have selected the members accordingly, we will roll up our characters in the first session together, decide who will play the custom class, etc. I will likely select 4 players... however I reserve the right to choose 5 if I can't decide on 4. :P It's also worth mentioning that although we will follow the Adventure Path to some degree, the majority of the content will be custom-produced.
The Void Knight: Occasionally an outsider of great chaotic affinity reaches through the planes to touch an individual, endowing them with miraculous and unpredictable powers. If not driven mad by adulthood, these few chosen can become Void Knights, harnessing the chaotic nature of planar spacetime.
This is a d8 HP, 3/4 BAB spellcasting class (up to 6th level spells) that will play perhaps a bit like a magus but with different emphasis, mobility, and utility. While the Magus' core playstyle is centered around getting up close and utilizing both sword and spell, Void Knights are far more focused on ranged touch attacks (such as rays) and have the distinct ability to blink through space, following their rays to deliver follow-up melee attacks.
The damage output of the Void Knight will be slightly lower than the Magus', but with more movement and different interesting abilities that will set them apart even further. Many of these abilities will be defined by the Outsider you choose to have "gifted" you these extraordinary abilities; each one (Protean, Valkyrie, and Demon are just a few) will bestow different abilities (similar to a Domain or Bloodline).
The Void Knight uses INT-based casting, utilizes DEX heavily to deliver ranged touch attacks, and benefits from STR and CON like any class that finds itself in melee at any point.
