SETTING INFORMATION
Endar was once an overgrown, untamed, and unsettled land full of monstrous beasts, barbaric tribes, antagonistic Orcs, and mysterious secrets. It was recently conquered just a handful of decades ago, thus earning the name of "The Young Kingdom" by the ancient empires across the world of Dwarves, Elves, Men, and others. The triad ruling of an Elf, Dwarf, and Human have allied themselves with the Main Lands and are expanding their borders and discovering secrets of the world every year. Damp and labyrinthine caves, strongholds of Orcs, societies of native bandits, ancient ruins holding arcane secrets, and strange runic structures with no discovered purpose or ability. The economy booms. Land is on the cheap, positions of power are opening, armies are growing, jobs are abundant, and opportunity is ripe.
You, our Heroes-to-be, have your sights on the Young Kingdom of Endar. Whether you were born there, or came from the Main Lands, today you become pilgrims in an unknown land. What lies in the uncharted parts of the Young Kingdom? Perhaps it is the means to which your character gains the will to become a Hero. Perhaps there is endless treasure that even the nobility couldn't fathom. Perhaps there are ancient arcane secrets forever lost to time. Or perhaps, an empty throne to join the halls of the Gods themselves.
Whatever your dreams, you're here to become Heroes. The winds of change are sweeping across the Known World. Will you follow them?
SYSTEM INFORMATION
Step into a D&D-style, high-fantasy, fluid world full of fantastic creatures, monstrous beasts, interesting quests, and epic adventures in the deadly Hackmaster system renowned for its old-school style and intuitive, action-packed combat system. In this campaign, I will strive to create a world in which the characters make the story. With quests and adventures that actually seem important to their goals, I aim to DM a game that feels personal and brings great reward and closure to the characters as they earn experience and create a name for themselves.
Hackmaster is a game designed to be the journey to greatness. As such, it is laced with challenging and lethal obstacles next to its combat. Overall power level is at a realistic low. Starting at the first level, characters are only moderately more skilled than the average commoner. Though with the use of "penetrating" dice, your Level 1 Fighter's longsword can hit anywhere from 2 damage to 35+ damage!
Of course, this may be an issue to newcomers as the game is rather rules-heavy and likes to limit the players in certain choices (though I do my best to homebrew other options). It may be complicated to those who've never played an RPG before, but I can tell you I started my first RPG with HackMaster and have enjoyed it since.
Join the party in adventure as you walk through enchanted lush forests, dark and harrowing caves, freezing snowstorms, and ancient ruins forever lost to time. Create a character with real goals, real quirks, and real flaws and set them on the path to achieving their dreams. Arm them with either trusty steel, crafted bows, magic spell components, or divine faith as they fight for their lives to become legend.
