JumpChain - Adventure! Challenge! Power!

Recruitment

You die ... and arrive in a blank misty void. Your own body is a misty form. You remember who you were. Your personality and mundane skills / talents / abilities are intact. Super powers / supernatural abilities are inert. You remember key relationships and highlights of your life, but little more. Continued in Jumpchan Recruitment Post...

Information

This is an improvised co-op multiplayer tabletop RPG adaptation of going on a string JumpChain CYOAs. JumpChain and its JumpDocs are absolutely not designed with multiplayer in mind in any way. Players will need to be flexible and tolerant of an arrangement that is highly dependent on adhoc GM rulings, GM adjudication and improvisation both in character creation / level up and in-session. Also need to be tolerant of having a system that is mostly narratively driven with some tabletop RPG mechanics shoe-horned in to keep some kind of multiplayer balance. While I will attempt to minimize perk banning and nerfing, it will inevitably need to happen to have some kind of balance. I may not catch the need to nerf or ban a perk or drawback before the jump starts. Players will need to be mature and flexible and be tolerant of potential uneven power levels in character builds.

This is a homework heavy campaign. When a new jump doc comes into play, there will be a whole new document’s worth of perks and drawbacks to choose from. Some documents can be over 50 pages long, including your first jump, Generic Childhood, which is being used in its most powerful and most complicated of its play mode options – Wondrous Gauntlite Mode. Players that are diligent in this homework will have significant advantage over players that are not as their character builds will be much more optimized. Many questions will need to be asked of the GM to avoid in-session surprises and to minimize in-session slowdowns and stalls. This improvised JumpChain tabletop RPG attempts to load most of the complexity on the character creation and level-up side, so that in-session gameplay can be faster and smoother, at least the equivalent of Mutants & Masterminds or D&D 3.5 or Pathfinder 1E.

Sign-Ups / Applications

Accepting players age 14 and up. Accepting players age 50+ as well. Mature content, young players welcome but will not go out of the way to make content friendly for young players. Young players will be playing among adults and will be exposed to adult themes and need to be mature. Players will need to be tolerant of young and old players alike.

Since Jumpchain is not friendly for introducing new players mid-campaign while at the same time online TTRPG players tend to be floppy, will be surge-recruiting to up to 10 players. The first session will likely have 7-8 players possibly 9 or 10, and we may enter the core jumpchain (4th+ jumps) with 7+ players. My ideal group size is 6 players, but I do have large group experience as both a GM and a player.
