Gasulmon, Death, Destiny, and DnD

Welcome to Gasulmon, a world of mystery, danger, and adventure! The gods have apparently abandoned this land, but that hasn't stopped brave clerics and other followers from gaining power and spreading their influence. Now, after a cataclysmic event that wiped out much of the past, the world is slowly healing, but many secrets remain hidden and many challenges lie ahead.

In this world of uncertainty, adventurers are the ones who hold the key to progress and survival. You are one of those adventurers, seeking fortune, glory, or simply a chance to make a difference in this new world. And you're not alone - a group of Founders has established the city of Berthas, a bastion of hope and civilization next to the ancient, vicious forest that borders it.

As a player in this game, you'll have the chance to explore the world of Gasulmon, uncover its secrets, fight its dangers, and interact with its people. Whether you're human or another race, you'll find a welcoming home in Berthas, where the Founders are eager to recruit new allies and expand their influence.

Some of the general rules are as follows:

1. Don't join if you are under the age 16, there are other servers that will accept you if you are not, don't worry.

2. Act mature, you can have fun and mess around some, but don't complain and whine if something doesn't go your way, there is always next time.

3. Listen to the DM, mods, and admins, they are there for a reason, and have the authority to punish you if you do not, or if you are doing or saying something you clearly shouldn't. If there is an issue with them that you would like to be heard, send a message either in the Feedback channel or in the private discussion that you would be given.

4. Breaking discord's tos will result in severe punishment.

5. Absolutely no discrimination of any kind, in or out of character, or as a joke. These topics would be discussed if need be, since fantasy discrimination against creatures such as goblins is common.

6. Please keep real life politics and problems out of discussion, If you want to talk about them, then do it privately elsewhere.

Character creation

You would start at level 3

You take max HP each level

You can either use the heroic array or Heroic point buy
Heroic array is- 17 15 14 12 10 8
Heroic point buy is- you get 35 points to allocate accordingly (you start with 8 in all of your stats), and you can go up to 18 with the points. I recommend using the site 'Chicken Dinner Point Buy' for the calculations. In the site Chicken Dinner though, you would have to adjust the costs in the Custom Rules setting for 16 to 11 points, 17 to 13 points, and 18 to 15 points.
Instead of your race ability score improvement, you have a surplus of 4 points to increase your stats in any way you wish (as long as it doesn't go past 20).
As for the race, you may choose either the official races or again, use homebrew. It is encouraged to keep in mind that some races would make your powers lean into them, such as a boon that relates to your racial powers being granted. But the boons would be discussed in the Private Channel given.

Your class or subclass may be homebrew, but it needs the DM's permission to use it.

Add an additional 100 Gold Pieces to your character and feel free to use your gold before character creation as well.

We will level up using a mixed EXP and milestones, at each level you will need to complete a set amount of encounters, and depending on how you deal with them you might get from half an encounter to a full encounter point. Quests taken from the various factions also give an encounter point, so it gives you the opportunity to double your encounter points.
From 5th level and beyond you will need to clear a certain milestone to level up, whether it will be to deal with a certain enemy or let a certain amount of time pass for your powers to solidify, what's for certain is that it will be hidden and sometimes I will give out hints for it, either in or out of character.

You would get various buffs during your adventure, which would make you quite legendary. The buffs will stem from your bloodline, enhancing artifacts, perhaps good relations with powerful beings, etc. They will be logical lore-wise and story-wise, that is for sure. The buffs vary from giving you extra HP, to giving you various new features, and to something special which shall be shown in the campaign eventually (a secret power if you will). These buffs are called 'Boons', and shall be discussed what the players want in the Private Discussion, but don't expect to get just anything, some will come with a price if accepted.
BUT, I know all of this sounds like you could curb stomp anyone in your way but the world is cruel yet fair you see, the encounters you will face will be according to your strength when needed, read the lore/info post to see the fair part of this, specifically the power level part. Also, encounter points are given mainly from equal fights so don't expect to gain any from fighting helpless beasts.

We will be using downtime, so be prepared for some off time for your character, in the downtime you may train skills and gain proficiencies.

We mainly use discord and Roll20 for various combat.
And finally, the time listed is simply temporary. We will be playing Play by Post most of the time, and that is the time when I am most active.

Our current play style is that most people are active relatively everyday with relative fast pace, but people are also free to group up with those of slower pace, as long as they have fun!
While new players are welcome, I would rather accept those who with experience of excitement for the game I would run.

One shots would be run in the world of Gasulmon as well, mostly medium level ones of around level 5 to 9, but the main game would be priority.
