Introduction: Hey, name's Kevin and welcome to this Mutants and Masterminds 3e game inspired and set in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen but within the Western Sphere in the year of 2025. If you are unfamiliar with the system of Mutants and Masterminds that is okay, the hardest part is the character creation but everything else is rather straight forward. If need help with making characters or knowing the rules please refer to the following link... (https://www.d20herosrd.com/). Games are held on Fridays or Saturdays at ~7:30 PM EST. I'm flexible with the time between the two days I just want to get idea of what's good and bad for prospective players.
Players will be newly inducted promising Sorcerers/Exorcists to the Midwest Philosopher Institute in Chicago. Whether they are new to the Sorcerer World, served with the Philosopher Organization before enrollment to the Institute, a reformed Curse User or something else, is freely and entirely up to you. The typical age range for students in the Institute would typically be 15-25 but there have been exceptions or special examples in the past (be it younger or older). Players will be in their first year of enrollment in the institute, that does not mean they are experienced or inexperienced with sorcery, curses, spirits and like it just means as said... are in first year of proper higher level training for the technical skill of sorcery if want of think of it like that. They could've been a part of a family and known about philosophers and like since birth or been totally thrown head first into the chaos after the White Night, the choice is yours.
Further Notes for Game:
- Put "BUTTER" at top or somewhere in your application. Also have a second code word fully capitalized in "Lore" discussion, will give application greater priority.
- If curious about the Philosophers, some lore, sorcerer families and characters feel free to check the "Lore" discussion page.
- Players will start at PL 8 (~ Semi Grade 1 or Grade 2) with 150 Power Points.
- Keep in mind while this world is inspired and set in the universe of Jujutsu Kaisen I may get certain things wrong, add or change certain elements of the lore (at very least expect that to be the case especially set in the Western Hemisphere).
- Can expect tone of game to similar of that of JJK where may alternate between downright wacky to hopeless despair.
- This game will be about 40% Combat, 40% Role play, 10% exploration/investigation/puzzles, 10% miscellaneous.
- There may sometimes be crude humor in my game, if you cannot handle the occasional swear or crude joke this is not the game for you
- I will try to stay as close to the rules of M&M 3e as reasonably and fun as possible but keep in mind it is a rather "fragile" system and can easily lead to some broken builds even with lower power levels. As such at times I may need an ability or such changed or even put under certain restrictions, if make an overly big fuss about that I will consider it a red flag.
- Do not place applications outside of the form "Applications Here" otherwise it'll be deleted immediately and I'll delete any further applications from you
- Only post in Questions or Applications
- Feel free to incorporate NPCs in lore connected to your character, encourage it if want to.
Campaign Synopsis:
Nearly two years have passed since the horrors of the "White Night," an event that saw the total destruction of New York City and the loss of many Philosophers including over half their "Special Grade" sorcerers. The surviving members of the Philosophers have been working tirelessly to deal with the rising threat of Curses, Spirits, Monsters and Demons, while also trying to recover from the tragedy. In their efforts to overcome this ever-evolving world of curses, the Philosophers have taken a keen interest in training the next generation of sorcerers. That's where you come in. As one of the promising newcomers, you have been newly inducted into the Midwest Philosopher Institute, situated in the heart of Chicago. Whether you come from a long line of sorcerers or have just recently discovered your powers, the Philosophers believe in your potential to become a defender of humanity against the terrors that lurk in the shadows.
