Join a campaign with one of Roll20’s most experienced roleplay-centric DMs. Place your adventure into the hands of a storyteller that is just as invested in your journey as you are!
I'm a heavy role-play type of DM as my main goal is at the end of the day to tell a compelling and overall great story. So if you are looking to get your roleplay on with other player's just as passionate about it as you are, you've come to the right place! The games I run are typically character driven and focus is always shone on the player's and how their decisions impact the world around them. I almost forgot to mention that part, all of my campaigns share a living, breathing world where one campaign's decisions may impact a separate campaign's lived experience. Player's get the unique opportunity to see how their decisions truly impact the world around them, from hearing about the escapades of another passing group to cleaning up the aftermath of a messy banishing ritual. The possibilities are truly endless.
The game starts one full generation after Vecna’s defeat. While the Mighty 9 are in Wildemount, you will be dealing with the scars left behind by Vox Machina as there hasn’t been a new heroic force to lead Tal’Dorei in a newfound direction in 20 years allowing for the next generation of adventurers to rise. As Dark clouds loom over the Rifenmist Jungles and beyond, Syngorn gathers adventurers and mercenaries alike from all across Tal’Dorei to help weather the incoming storm. With threats from The Mirescar making the forests of the Verdant Expanse, more dangerous than ever before. Rumors of a dark malignant corruption seeping through the land from an unknown origin. The monsters of the Mirescar wander through the forests showing signs of intense aggression and strangely enough, mutation. Further to the south an increased number of Ravagers making their way through the dense Rifenmist Jungles have started to spill onto the Mornset Countryside. Who will be the adventurers that weather the storm of strife to deliver hope? Will it be you?
Join us in this short-term campaign set in the wonderful world of Exandria! Where you will be playing adventurers from far and wide signed to go and handle the scouting parties of Tz'Arrm as the followers of the Strife Emperor stretch their way across the southern reaches of the world. What will you find in your search? And what kind of story you'll have in this short-term campaign will be completely up to you as you'll be faced with choices and decisions that impact the tides of war to come.
This game is in pt.2! The player's currently rush to aid Byroden to help weather the impending attack from the armies of Tz'Arrm to the south. Join in to become a proud defender at the forefront of a world changing conflict,
This is a semi-longterm campaign where we do large arcs with short breaks in between. Typically lasting one to two weeks or so, before we start things back up again! Gives everyone time to take a breather before we hop back into the chaos.
Hey I’m Zag! Nerd, critter and lover of all things roleplay, I've been a professional DM for games here on R20 for over 4 years now and have amassed over 8 thousand hours of experience! Here in my games, I always encourage everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves at my tables, as I try to curate an environment that is centered around the shared enjoyment of a good game played. Here in my games, you're able to truly delve into your character on entirely new levels, with player's and a community that are as equally excited about the next session as you are. New players are more than welcome to come along for the adventure, I create one of the best new-player experiences for every player that joins my games.
If your first introduction to D&D was a particular show called Critical Role then you are in good company! As that style and element of D&D served as not only my main inspiration for when I first picked up the DM mantle, it molded what I strive for in a D&D game altogether. You shall come to expect deep rich stories filled with detailed plots, arcs and campaign defining moments, fully voice acted npc's and the full range of emotion that comes with compelling characters.
I first and foremost accept applicants based on quality, and compatibility over simply who applies first. I don’t look for just any player, I look for the best player I feel will fit with the party in terms of personality and players that synergize with my DM style. This means that just because you apply first, or may see another apply first, doesn’t mean you lose your chance of getting into the game. In my experience the best and longest campaigns come from finding all the right people and bringing them together.
If all of this interests, you and my games sound like the perfect fit. Perhaps you find yourself being a curious and prospecting onlooker, send me a PM and I will personally invite you to spectate a session live as it happens. Where you get to see the magic happen for yourself.
The average game will last somewhere between 3-4 hours maxing out at 4 hours, however for exceptionally great moments the game can extend slightly further as to fit them in. There is a break at the halfway point or wherever there is a suitable point for one, which will go for 10-15 minutes on average.
I am now going to explain the expectations of a player that sits down to play at my table. I’m all about unhindered fun as long as it doesn’t impede on the way someone else enjoys theirs. In my game’s your character is truly an individual and can decide what they want and don’t want to do. I was never fond of the idea of binding everyone to a group and stripping away their individual character’s wants and needs and pushing the responsibilities of the decision making onto one party member. To me, when you sit down to play the character you created, with your time, imagination and energy, they are always individual first. There is no “party leader” everyone’s a leader, and everyone contributes to the decisions made.
At the end of the day I want everyone to get along together and have fun playing a game we all commonly love, known as D&D. All the while being respectful towards each other for their time, energy and creativity that they’ve contributed into the game.
I strive for the players at my table to really embody their character and wear their skin as if it’s their own but there comes a point where the line is drawn. I support character RP, and player character based choices. Where the line is drawn, is when it disrupts the momentum of the game, or the player acts in their own self interest (breaking character). Using their character to do things that they really want to do vs. what their character would/should do. I support the idea of a character being an individual that is part of a group or team. If it is disruptive or toxic in nature, that is strictly not allowed. We’re here to have fun together, not ruin someone else's experience they’ve paid for. Fun at the expense of another is not fun.
Only classes, races, class features, feats, and spells from the Core Rulebooks, and the following books or homebrew listed below are allowed:
The basics of creating your characters are as follows:
Otherwisely known as a CCW in my community, this is a process where once accepted into the game we set up a date and time for a meeting, just you and me. It is there we introduce ourselves and get the discussion rolling as to what kind of D&D player you'd like to play. This allows for us to get to know each other and for you to know me and I you. During this time we set about creating your character for my games, most often what you come in with will not be what you leave with. This is due to the fact that the world that's used is a lot more involved than what most D&D player's are used to, in my games the character's have many things that can impact them. Such as, where you're born from (I've drawn up complete maps of 6 different continents), the type of accent you may have, the type of name you'll have which is determined by which species you pick and where they were born. It is an extremely involved process but it ensures that you, the player, enter into my game with a character that truly feels like they live and breathe in this world they inhabit. This process also marks the beginnings of our shared storytelling experience, and a hint of what's to come in the live game!
Why should you pay for a DM?
