Into The Mistlands

Several leagues west of the bustling port of Duncliff, the great capital city of the Kingdom of Kett, placid and unmoving upon the deepest waters of the Cobalt Main, existed the Shroud. This vast area of thick impenetrable fog occupied the same waters for the entirety of recorded history. The sailors, fishermen and merchants that plied the Main did not fear it but neither would they dare it, for no ship that ventured within those billowing clouds had ever returned.

The Shroud was an enigma, a monument to mystery. Lives were lived, time rolled inexorably forward, and the Shroud abided.

And then, one day, it was gone.

The continent revealed was dubbed “The Mistlands” and the Kingdom of Kett set about establishing a foothold on its shores immediately. The expedition force included Deepshire Logistics, a representative of the kingdom’s commercial interests, who brought with them a team of hand-picked adventurers to act as troubleshooters in what was sure to be an unpredictable and dangerous frontier.
These adventurers helped to establish Expedition Point, the cliffside keep serving as Kett’s forward base for the exploration and taming of the Mistlands. During their early days it was discovered that there were others there, too, cultists of Orcus, the Demon Prince of the Undead, pursuing an agenda that could plunge the entire continent and possibly the world into a land of chaos and unspeakable evil.
Discoveries were made about an ancient league of wizards known as the Brotherhood who appeared to have been responsible for creating the Shroud millennia ago. Of the little remaining of these mages, there were writings about the Ways, a system of portals that connected all worlds, planes, and possibly even times.

Our brave adventurers have stumbled across one of these portals and found themselves transported into an underground tomb or shrine of some sort, built by a people long dead, and filled with traps that kill and monsters unlike any they had ever seen. A dungeon where the very air was poison, slowly killing them.
Will the party find a way out before succumbing to the dangers? And where will they find themselves when they do?

A word from your DM

I was twelve years old when I walked in on a friendly gathering, got handed a sheet of paper covered in odd abbreviations and numbers, and was told, “You’re the ranger. Grab some dice.” I was hooked! That was the year 1982 and I have been playing and dungeon mastering D&D in one form or another ever since, making lifelong friends along the way.

My name is Panteleone and I bring a lifetime of gaming passion to every session I run. With me as your DM you can expect a solid mix of role play, combat, and exploration in a homebrew setting that feels fresh yet familiar. I relish mining the backstories of my players’ characters for impactful plot-relevant hooks so that everybody gets a chance to shine. See you at the virtual table!
