Welcome to Waterdeep, the Crown of the North, where a wondrous tale of urban adventure is about to unfold. Our story begins with the gathering of adventurers at the Yawning Portal Inn and Tavern. Volothamp Geddarm, the famous explorer and raconteur, has a quest for them-one that entangles the characters in a bitter conflict between two nefarious organizations. If the adventurers complete his quest, Volo rewards them handsomely. Yet a much greater prize lies hidden somewhere in the City of Splendors, waiting to be claimed.
Running the Adventure Waterdeep: Dragon Heist for new and experienced players. More than any other official adventure this module in vast parts provides the DM and players with a sandbox and tools to create their own character-driven adventure therein instead of following a story-driven railroad. Your options and possibilities are as vast as the city of waterdeep itself and i hope we can find a way for your party to tell their own unique story in this setting.
Please only apply if you have not played this adventure yet and are willing to be play and be patient with newer players.
My name is Thomas, and I've been playing and DM'ing offline for years during my time at the university. In recent years i didn't have to opportunity to play longer campaigns due to work but now have the time and drive to get back into it. I've been DM'ing and playing several short adventures on Roll20 but this will be my first longer campaign so i hope everyone will be gentle while the rust comes off :)
As a DM I enjoy roleplaying (even though my voices suck) and building up a character driven narrative as the relationships between the party and the city unfold. Usually i try to aim for a 60/40 split between roleplaying and combat but generally i like to get to know my players first and then adapt to their expectations. I also enjoy going off script occasionally and enabling my party's crazy shenanigans that i'm sure you'll come up with.
