Cyberpunk RED

Presumptions at the table:

No murderhobo-ing (unless that's the job), you are an Edgerunner looking to do a gig for quick Eddies.

Your characters should want to cooperate together and maybe even die for each other.

No erotic roleplay, game may contain some sexual content/suggestive themes but no sexual violence.

Minimal racism. You can smack talk someone for having shoddy chrome and gear though. Maybe kill some racists.

Encounters may be resolved either violently or diplomatically.

Premise.

Life sucks for you. You're two weeks overdue on last month's rent and all you've had to eat each night for the past week is expired Kibble. At least you have your Crew whom you can depend on. Surely there is quick and dirty work to be found at the Dive Bar you all frequent.

The game is set in Night City during the Time of Red, a period after the Fourth Corporate Wars marked by a distinct red pall in the skies, the result of nuclear detonation, orbital bombardment, and whatever shit industry happens to be spewing that day into the atmosphere. Incredible technological progress in cybernetics, computing, and biology resulted in widespread adoption of chrome upgrades, coupled with extreme societal strife and economic disparity. Night City still has a radioactive crater where Corporate Plaza used to be.

As a GM, I've hosted dozens of sessions for D&D5e. My understanding of the Easy Mode Rules should be rougly on par with the players I plan to run it with, but at least this won't be my first time. I run my D&D games as escapist fantasy so I'm eager to lean in heavily on the political aspects of Cyberpunk such as social upheaval due to techno-shock or the wide departures from our modern social mores. Also it would be neat if a PC died in dramatic fashion.

Character Creation.

Use one of the provided Templates for Roles and go down the Lifepath Tables.

Players may either roll from the RED Companion App (easy!) or from Roll20 (incur irl Humanity Loss). Must say "I rolled a d10 + Base!"

Questions

1. How familiar with roleplaying games are you, be they tabletop or video games?

2. How familiar are you with the Cyberpunk Genre? Seen any movies or read some books?

3. What's the first cybernetic enhancement you would make on yourself? For example, eyes with built in zoom, arm with built in paper shredder, et cetera.

4. How would you handle Character deaths?

5. What aspect of the game are you most interested in, i.e. roleplaying, rolling dice, combat? Do you like each part about the same, etc.?
