Looking through the streets of the city, meandering as all newcomers upon their first visits to the City-State's unnamed capital, looking upon the many wonders alien to you, but familiar to the residents of the city without appellation, you almost forget that you're without work in this new locale.
In between bouts of terror, amazement, dodging press gangs and slavers, retching from the awful potluck stew at the Bellowdecks Inn, drinking at Tanglebones Tavern, and getting blinded by flies on Dead-Broke Street, you see a little poster, written in an unsophisticated hand, looking for "fighting-men, theives, clerics, and mages" to assist a "Captain Charles MacConnell" in a quest, the details of which will be divulged at the meeting place, that being the mead-hall at the eastern end of Twilight Road, next to the Cleric's Club, and across from the Cavalry Stable. The time of the meeting is Thursday the 29th, at a quarter past six in the evening.
You've seen the advert in many places around the city. In each one of these posters, the handwriting is inconsistent, but the message remains the same. The posters, with such eclectic requests and such odd requirements, strike you as odd and unworthy of your attention, but with your supply of money dwindling and all other offers of employment seeming either hopelessly fatal or so unpleasant that not even a gnoll would take them, you decide to take the Colonel up on his offer and go to the meeting.
This campaign will using the Second Edition of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. The setting for this campaign is the "Wilderlands of High Fantasy"(one of the first campaign settings ever published), focusing on the region of the City State of the Invincible Overlord.
The first session of the campaign will be devoted to character creation, which will be done as a group. The party will all start with first level characters. Non-weapon proficiencies will be utilized in this game. The races available to play will be the core races (Human, Half-Elf, Gnome, Elf, and Dwarf), Half-Orcs, and the permutations of those races available in sourcebooks. More esoteric character races (such as Kenku or even Thri-Kreen)will also be accepted, though some suspicion may be given to the character by non player characters if they are of such unusual nature. Only classes from the Player's Handbook will be playable, though kits from the various sourcebooks will also be accepted.
Wilderness survival and travel will be given importance in this campaign, there are many strange characters and sites out in the wilds surrounding the City-State and an expedition to the forests to get to a dungeon can be an adventure in itself.
Communication will be done over skype and Roll20. Sessions will be held on Sundays at 3:00 PM EST (or 8:00 PM UTC). I will give my skype name after I add you to the game on Roll20.
The player limit of six is flexible. I have handled parties of more than eight players before and am willing to do so again.
