Hello!(Be warned that the current start date is just a placeholder, but I am aiming for the afternoon EST. The actual game date is TBD by the group.)
I'm Noah and I will be your dungeon master for this campaign if you'd like to have a concrete long-standing campaign.
I've been in love with tabletop gaming(mostly D&D 5E) since 2016, and have adored roleplaying and rolling dice with friends! I have been DMing ever since I got started in D&D. It has been quite the journey and I would enjoy bringing others together to partake in it. As a dungeon master I tend to prefer a good story, focusing on roleplay. I do still try my best to provide fun combat with homebrew monsters here and there, as well as making unique scenarios for combat and roleplay as a whole.
Description
Twenty years have passed since Vox Machina slew the Chroma Conclave, yet much of Tal'Dorei is already returning to prosperity. Major cities like Westruun and Emon are especially fortunate, for the vast amounts of wealth plundered from the dragons' ancient hoards have allowed them to hire legions of arcanists to magically restore much of what was lost. Tal'Dorei is on the road to recovery, but all is not well. The newly-formed Republic of Tal'Dorei finds itself increasingly indebted to the mages who facilitated Emon's rebirth, and there is worry that the fledgling Republic will crumble under the pressure.
Beyond Emon, the landscape of Tal'Dorei has been forever scarred by the presence of the Conclave, especially the Cinder King. His hellfire left marks on Tal'Dorei that will never heal—magical wounds that bleed fire and ooze chaotic magic. Smaller cities beyond the reach of the Council have begun to succumb to sinister influences. The Betrayer Gods sense weakness within the world. The lightless madness of the Chained Oblivion churns beneath Gatshadow. The lost blade of Graz'zt the Seductive calls from the Umbra Hills for a new master. Zehir the Dark Serpent raises armies south of Syngorn. The cults of the Whispered One spread like a poison through Tal'Dorei's remote frontiers. Tal'Dorei needs heroes—and this time, Vox Machina alone will not be enough. Welcome to Tal'dorei.
Setting
This game will take place in Exandria, the homebrew world created by Matthew Mercer of Critical Role! Matt has been kind enough to provide dungeon masters and players like myself with the ability to take his world and run with it. I intend to do so with you as my players in a cooperative experience. If you are a fan of Critical Role or just a D&D fan in general, then I believe you'll enjoy the world that is Exandria. With that being said, I should note that this particular story will take place in Tal'Dorei, a continent within Exandria. Depending on how the story unfolds, I will be open to letting the story take you outside of Tal'Dorei(but that would be way later into the game).
Campaign Style:
I intend to treat this game as I treat each of my games. This means that this campaign will be a cooperative story, where each of you will tell the story as your own characters, with your own characters. I will simply react to the story you choose to tell when it comes to the world itself. This is meant to be a fun experience to each of you, as well as myself.
Expect adventure hooks to be thrown your way along the course of your adventuring and travels, but I will not force you down a particular path. This is a completely sandbox based experience, with each of you determining where you choose to go. We are all going to be weaving this story together!
Backstories are going to be as big or small, based on what each individual player desires. We shall discuss such should you be someone that joins my campaign.
Length of the Campaign:(I intend to run this as long as everyone is having fun)
Session Length: This will be discussed by the group once we have all player slots filled, but I'd prefer 3 hours of game time each session. As for a starting time, anytime in the afternoon works for me, but that may also be discussed but I will warn that I am on the East Coast in the U.S.
Starting Level: 1(this will provide tons of building between party members, and will let each of you get grounded in the world around you as players)
Group Size: Anywhere from 5-6 players.
All official sourcebook content permitted for use. Any homebrew content must be discussed with me before it is given an okay, same goes for any Unearthed Arcana content.
New or inexperienced players are welcome to play!
