Hoard of the Dragon Queen

Hello there! I'm looking to add a bit of extra Dungeons and Dragons to my life beyond my regular Saturday group, so I'm hoping to find a group to play online with! As the title suggests, we'll be playing the WotC premade adventure, Hoard of the Dragon Queen, which is part of the series The Tyranny of Dragons. This campaign takes place in the Forgotten Realms setting, along the area known as the Sword Coast -- a string of cities and towns spaced out along the varying terrain up and down the coast of the Sea of Swords.

I'm hoping to have this be a game in which roleplay can thrive, where in-character conversations happen frequently, and we can stand back and watch characters grow and evolve just as much as their combat capabilities do. Thusly, applications that show effort on this front will be given high priority!

Now, for the application itself, I don't want you to create an entire character sheet -- we'll do that at some point before our first session. New players are welcome, but I want you to show some kind of initiative! I'm not going to spoon-feed you the rules, though I will help you along with them. At the very least, have a player's handbook (or find a -cough cough- slightly less legal one -cough cough- somewhere).

Class diversity is also important to me, so I'll only be allowing one of each class into the party.

We currently have: A fighter, a ranger, and a rogue.

What I want you to include in your application is as follows:

Character Backstory: How did your character come to be? The five of you first meet up somehow along the road travelling to the town of Greenest in the southern end of the Sword Coast. How did you end up on your way here? Are you a hired guard for a merchant's caravan? On a simple errand to a distant family-member in Greenest? The possibilities are endless!

You can go into as little or as much detail regarding the lore of the Sword Coast as you wish -- you can simply refer to your hometown as a nondescript phrase, such as 'a small village' or 'a large metropolis,' or, if you are aware of the geography of the region, you may use specific cities' names.

And, of course, you can go as far back into your character's history as you wish, as well. You could tell a tale going as far back as their childhood, or write off their earlier years as not important -- the choice is completely up to you!

I'm looking forward to looking through people's applications, and I hope we can all have great fun together! I'm hoping to find four or five players in addition to myself as the DM to play. I'll be adding people to the campaign early if I find their application impressive, adding those I see with just as much potential a couple days before the campaign so that we can set things up.

In response to a PM I received, homebrew classes, races, etc. may or may not be allowed, at my own discretion. Hit me up with a PM and I'll give you a stamp of approval or denial. Homebrews from established sources are far more likely to be accepted than one of your own creation, though if you believe you have put the required amount of effort into something yourself, please, do not let me dissuade you from asking.

We have lost a couple of players, and are looking for two more! We're still currently in the first episode of Hoard of the Dragon Queen, and though will not be starting this week, we will be starting up again next week! I hope to see a few new applications, and will have messaged some older applicants I liked as well!
