A remix of Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus starting as Level 20 Scoundrels with a Big Boss Battle against Orcus and his Undead Horde.
Nate A.
Playing within Skylar's campaigns has been the most fun I've ever had with DnD. The chaos, the laughs, the sad moments, the climactic battles, the heart-to-heart RP and many more memories that I will cherish the rest of my life.
Rachel R.
The level of detail and effort put into every map and encounter is beyond amazing; the players from my group and I continue to bring up crazy battles or interesting sessions even a year or so after they happened.
Gregory M.
As both a DM and a player, I have to say Skylar is the best DM I have ever played with. He is great at coaching new players in the skills of role-playing. Skylar takes player agency seriously, but isn't afraid to dramatically challenge his players with bold reveals, titanic foes, and high stakes. If you want to experience one of the greatest ways to spend your free time, I cannot recommend Skylar highly enough.
I’ve been playing Role-Playing Games for over twenty-five years. My first exposure was playing a Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game one-shot on a weekend visit to family friends in October 1997.
I was immediately hooked when my smuggler was able to make a ranged attack using his comlink as an improvised throwing weapon.
Several educational programs have influenced my approach to story plotting and GMing:
I started DMing professionally in 2019 since I was already DMing for fun and far more players than I could accommodate wanted to join my campaigns, and I found that charging a substantial access fee works well as a filtering mechanism for seriously committed players.
I am a licensed attorney, and my current day job is providing eDiscovery Quality Assurance & Quality Control for corporate investigations and litigation with Consilio as an independent contractor.
If Infernal Marches is fully funded on Kickstarter, I will take several months to DM this campaign full-time before joining a new project when my current contract is up.
The Thursday night starting scenario is:
By chance or by fate, a party of Level 20 Wayfarers with no connection to Elturgard happened to be sleeping in an inn at the exact point where Orcus assaults the city.
Inspired by Fafhrd & The Gray Mouser, each player begins with two Level 20 Player Characters. These characters are restricted to Human, restricted to levels in Barbarian, Rogue, Fighter, Monk, and/or Ranger, and must have at least three levels in at least three classes. They receive 7 Feats/ASIs at character creation and no Feats/ASIs from class levels.
If a Player Character is reduced to 0 HP, they are dead. No resurrections.
Adjacent Player Characters in the combat initiative queue may interweave their actions in a coordinated way as allowed by the Baldur's Gate III engine. A Player Character may choose to delay their turn to a point in the initiative order adjacent to a Player Character with a lower initiative. If a Player Character does so, their initiative becomes equal to the current initiative of the selected Player Character.
Player Characters level up once for every game session they survive, when they are involved in achieving a campaign milestone, and possibly for additional reasons at the DM's discretion. Level ups take place between game sessions.
After the starting scenarios, Player Characters are automatically teleported to Elturel's High Hall at the end of each scheduled session. It is entirely possible this will interrupt players during combat and other activities. There are unlockable Permanent Teleportation Circles in Avernus to facilitate progression across Avernus without starting every session in Elturel, and at least one of the dungeons I added to Elturel contains a Permanent Teleportation Circle with special properties such as being freely usable by any character for outbound teleportation. Any time a Player Character learns the Sigil Sequence for a new Permanent Teleportation Circle, all Player Characters may use that Sigil Sequence for the rest of the campaign.
Magic Item Limits are based on common sense body slots rather than capped at three attunement slots. Max of two non-body slot, non-IOUN Stone attunement items except for Artificers. Artificers can use their expanded attunement feature for additional non-body slot items or attuning to multiple items for the same body slot and combining them into a single item that splits apart if attunement is dropped. IOUN Stones Unlimited.
All useful items of defeated enemies are automatically acquired and identified without the need for player investigation and identification. When a new item is acquired, attunement may be performed instantly, but after the initial acquisition of an item, attunement can only be performed in the High Hall. Excess items are added to a campaign-wide communal armory of available items. If more than one player wants to claim the same available item from the communal armory, the matter shall be settled via each claimant publicly rolling 1d100 in the administrative Roll20 campaign with the item going to the player with the highest roll.
No Player Character may lay claim on more than a full set of concurrently equipable gear and five consumable items. If a Player Character dies in a situation such that their equipment could plausibly be recovered, the items of the deceased character are added to the communal armory.
All magic weapons of an ammunition consuming type generate their own basic ammunition for each attack by default unless using some type of enhanced ammunition (e.g. an Arrow of Slaying).
A bonus action is sufficient to drink or administer a potion or similar item (DM judgment call on "similar" items). Consuming multiple potions with concurrently active effects can have unpredictable side effects that are not mechanically defined in advance of DM judgment calls.

If you have questions or want to meet over Discord and assess if we'd be a good Player/DM fit, you can message me on Roll20 or Kickstarter. I am currently working full-time as an attorney and taking care of family members, so I will get back to you as soon as is feasible, but it could be up to 48 hours before I respond to your message.
Back on Kickstarter to join!
This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $400 one time through Kickstarter. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
