Pandemonium

    > Note: Games occur when DMs are available, the listing does not reflect when the next game will actually happen and is simply to keep the campaign in active listings.

Basic Rules

  1. You must be 16 years or older to join the server. However, you will be kicked if you act immature, no matter what you age!
  2. Use common sense - be nice, be courteous, and don't spam! Also, please remember that some of our users are sensitive to Discord pings (including those from the reply function) so keep that in mind in your interactions.
  3. If a consensus cannot be reached in a given situation, then ping @Derahex or a member of the @Council. We will do our best to make a decisive but fair ruling for all parties involved, or at the very least the decision that makes most sense. You can DM @Derahex or any Council Member if you feel a concern is best kept out of the public eye, relevant parties will answer when they are available.

Our community is open and welcoming and we have a diverse playerbase from all sorts of places. Respect for others is the norm, and we don't tolerate intolerance. If you're a neo-nazi, a facist, another variety of person who doesn't know how to coexist with humans, or if this poses a problem for you in another way, this game isn't for you.

Other rules relevant to gameplay will be presented once you are in the game.

Gameplay

Pandemonium is set up to emulate Adventurer's League-style gaming. In our Discord server, a wide host of experienced and skilled DMs offer times they're available to run sessions; either simple arena combat or their hand-crafted custom modules, which are loosely connected and repeatable one-shots. Players keep track of experience, gold, and items gained each session of play as it persists from one to the next. We use the Myth-Weavers website to track character progress rather than sheets in the Roll20 game, which are used only for macros and tracking combat status. 4e does not have a compendium on Roll20, so making macros is required. However, the macros can be as simple as text copied from the compendium.

Players are allowed to have as many characters as they're comfortable tracking, with a once-per-week submission limit. A player can join an upcoming game with any character of the appropriate level range (with some wiggle room if necessary).

Additionally, the server has a prolific homebrewing culture and we pride ourselves in the very strict quality assurance of custom content we create for the server. Our main focus in homebrew is to enhance some of the less optimal character options to bring them up to a middle-level strength, as well as adding options to classes, races, themes etc. that have very little choices. All homebrew is of course optional and can be ignored when you create your character.

Character Creation Rules

If you're new to 4e and aren't sure where to start: we have pre-made demo characters you can use to get used to the system. They will store your XP and gold until you make your first character who will earn everything you stored up to that point.

If you're ready to make your own character: All officially published content is allowed, that includes monstrous races. While they are still looked down upon by some within the city, former biases have all but disappeared as as the city expands its population diversity.

All characters must use the 22-Point Buy System for their ability score array. Rolling is not allowed.

Characters begin the game at level 5. You can have a Mechanical Background and Character Theme. Each player starts with 4500 gold to purchase all of their starting equipment, including magic items up to item level 8, but nothing unique such as the Swords of Tyr. Finally each player is given a free "expertise" feat of their choice (a list of allowed feats is available in our document, which you will find once your submission is accepted).

All Themes and Backgrounds are allowed. You're allowed to change the flavor of your character's mechanical elements as much as you like, as long as you leave a note so running DMs can identify your rules elements.

Lore

Pandemonium is the largest settlement on the continent of Sera. Its commercial and social power is attributed to the Coalition, an alliance of merchant houses that strive for the city's success. The Seraphim Circle, an order of knight protectors that act outside of the government's jurisdiction, also ensure the city's protection.
After the Cataclysm, a terrible event that laid waste to the entire material world, Pandemonium stands as the bastion of civilisation for most of the land. Adventurers and wanderers flock to this city of great repute to try their chance at making fame and fortune.
