Fabula Ultima

Heavily inspired by my favorite JRPG, Okage: Shadow King (or Boku to Mao). No experience with the game required <3

Everyone has their part to play! In the world of Overshadowed, everyone is given a "class," or "classification," from birth. It's just normal that everyone follows along with what class they were assigned. Assigned Town Fool at birth? Sucks, but at least you'll make people laugh! Pushed into the trope of Daring Hero? Better gather up that courage and learn swordplay! Inherited your father's Sad Musician class? Time to learn all the sad songs you can.
But... what of those who deviate? Well... they don't exist (:
And yet here you are.
You are a group of ragtag adventurers who... have never quite fit in. And now, in some strange turn of fate, you have found yourself together, right when the Princess is in danger! Band together, explore the strange lands, and unravel the mystery of Classes. Who decided your Class, anyway..?

(No, the big reveal won't be "you're characters in a video game" haha)

Fabula Ultima is a delightful system using heavy inspiration from JRPGs! We build the setting, etc together, so who knows what awaits our characters..?
We each will bring inspirations we want incorporated into the setting's vibe; I, for example, always want to bring in a little Crystal Chronicles (beautiful, dark, meaningful) and Okage: Shadow King (whimsical, spoopy, trope heavy). Once we've decided the vibe, some villains or story beats, then we dive into the exciting part: character creation! I personally have never had so much fun trying to make broken characters in a TTRPG.
